Legendary golfer John Daly reminded everyone why he’s a fan favorite after cracking a hilarious joke in response to some friendly heckling during a recent round.
Daly, playing with what appears to be a casual round with friends, was attempting to tee off on a par 3 when a member of his group referenced sleeping with Hillary Clinton. Without hesitation, Daly provided an outrageously funny response.
The Daily Caller described the back-and-forth as a growing trend in the golf sphere or at least one that is portrayed on social media, writing:
A video posted to Instagram showed Daly squaring up on a par 3 tee box with the words “Back off challenge with John Daly” imposed on the screen. The “back off challenge” is a golf social media trend that involves mocking and insulting a player as he lines up his shot, with the goal of making him laugh hard enough that he’s forced to back away from it.

The commentary no doubt makes a lot of people want to head out to the course right now and just exchange some barbs with their buddies.
“Straight from getting his hair cut at the Golden Corral,” one of the players chimes in while trying to distract Daly.
“They do good work, they do it for free,” Daly replied, still lining up his shot.
“You’d f*ck Hillary Clinton just to get her to shut up,” says another man, bringing the heat to throw Daly off his game. It didn’t work.
“She’s got a d*ck,” the golf legend responded, who stayed over the ball but proceeded to hit a fat shot from the box. As he noted, at least he got another fairway for the stats.
The man is a legend. He’s such a cool guy that even Hollywood can’t stay away from him. As Outkick reported last fall, Daly is set to have a biopic released about his career on the PGA and featuring Jonah Hill in the titular role.
Outkick might be getting ahead of itself, but it suggested it could be “the greatest sports movie ever.” Outkick continued:
It’s tough to think of a more perfect fit than Jonah Hill to play John Daly.
While Hill has lost a ton of weight since his Superbad days, he still has the short, stocky build that mirrors Daly. Hill also possesses that sarcasm, and smart-ass delivery that will be key for portraying Daly on the big screen.
He even recently grew out the luscious, blonde locks and will look awesome rocking a Daly-inspired mullet like he donned during his heyday on Tour.
Hill will look natural with a cigarette in his mouth and a Diet Coke in his hand throughout the entire film.
Wherever this movie takes us, it’s safe to say a lot of people are interested. There’s the raw power and natural talent that led Daly to unmatched highs. Earning the nickname “Long John,” Daly’s physical stature and prowess with the driver enabled him to become the first pro to ever average more than 300 yards off the tee for an entire season in the 1990s and was the only player to earn that distinction until the mid-2000s.
There’s also the redemption arc, easily seen in his substance abuse, sobriety, and return to prominence by winning the PGA Tour’s Comeback Player of the Year award in 2004.
There’s also something to like about a modern athlete being unabashedly pro-Trump. The former president famously hosted both Daly and pal Kid Rock at the third and final presidential debate between him and Joe Biden, to which Daly showed up decked out in red, white, and blue.
