WATCH: Coach Jim Harbaugh Makes Surprise Appearance at March For Life Just Days After Winning National Championship

Michigan Wolverines Head Football Coach Jim Harbaugh saw his face plastered all over newspapers and online sports publications as he brought his team to a National Championship victory last week. To celebrate, Harbaugh was in attendance at the March for Life in Washington, DC, to protest on behalf of the pro-life movement.

Harbaugh, whose name has been tossed around plenty this week with job openings available in the NFL, decided to use his time on Friday the 19th to be a speaker at the growing March for Life event. The 60-year-old coach made his opinions heard loud and clear and did not tiptoe around the topic of abortion like so many other high-profile conservatives tend to do.

Coach Harbaugh made his stance clear in that interview, explaining that the fight for the unborn life was the most important part of fighting for any rights at all. To him, it is important that unborn babies have the right to be born because it helps to solidify the right to life, the right without which none others would be necessary. Harbaugh is also a devout Catholic, which no doubt plays a role in his staunch opposition to abortion.

Harbaugh also used his time at the march to give a brief interview to the Daily Caller, who shared what the newest National Champion had to say. Harbaugh told them, “You know, we all talk about human rights. There’s really no rights that are important unless you have the right to life. This is a great day for a march. It’s a great day for the sanctity of life, and [it is] football weather. Let’s make it a great day.”

The March for Life drew another high-profile football coach to its event last year when former Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy was seen in attendance. The backlash for Dungy was strong and quick from media outlets and leftists on social media who said that his presence was an evil things that should be condemned.

The American Tribune Reported on that last year, when Dungy spoke about the power of prayer at the event and discussed how millions of prayers were sent out for injured football player Damar Hamlin, who recovered and is alive and well.

He said, “Well, those prayers were answered. Damar’s recovered. Now he’s home. He’s been released from the hospital.  But what’s the less than that?  You know, an unbelievable thing happened that night a professional football game with millions of dollars of ticket, money and advertising money on the line, that game was canceled. Why? Because a life was at stake.”

Dungy continued, “And people wanted to see that life saved. Even people who aren’t necessarily religious or religious, got together and called on God.  Well, that should be encouraging to us because that’s exactly why we’re here today.  Because every day in this country, innocent lives are at stake. And the only difference is, they don’t belong to a famous athlete, and they’re not seen on national TV. But those lives are still important to God. and in God’s eyes.”
