White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt recently responded to former CNN anchor Jim Acosta’s disparaging comments toward her, highlighting that she is currently employed. Leavitt’s jab at Acosta came after he announced he would be leaving CNN last month after spending nearly two decades with the network.
As background, Acosta recently claimed Leavitt was on track to become one of Trump’s “all-star” liars. The press secretary addressed the critical remarks during her recent CPAC, stating, “Since you brought up Jim Acosta: He’s been saying some not-so-nice things about me online, and I’ve resisted responding. “But since you brought him up, I’d like to say: Jim, at least I have a job, Jim. OK? Just saying.”
Acosta had said, “She [Leavitt] might just get on Trump’s all-star team of liars.” He added, “She might be on the bench right now, but if she keeps working hard, she does her homework, she just might make it onto the team.” The anchor continued, “It’s sort of like…when your kid is telling you a tall tale, and you’re just looking at them like, ‘Okay Johnny, sure, yeah, I believe you … and you just walk away saying, ‘What the hell. That kid’s not telling me the truth.’”
Since President Donald Trump stepped back into office, conservatives have applauded Leavitt’s performance as press secretary, while the left has bashed her, as demonstrated by Acosta. The American Tribune reported on a recent incident in which she shut down a reporter while defending the Department of Government Efficiency’s efforts to downsize the federal government.
Pushing back against a reporter who suggested Americans were displeased with DOGE’s efforts, Leavitt offered major approval ratings Trump has attained in response. “I love how the media takes a few critics when the overwhelming response from the American people is support for what this administration is doing. If you look at the public polling, 70% of Americans, according to CBS, believe that President Trump is delivering on the promises he made,” she said.
“There should be no secret about the fact that this administration is committed to cutting waste, fraud and abuse,” she added. “The President campaigned on that promise. Americans elected him on that promise, and he’s actually delivering on it. And this is something that Democrats promised they would do for decades. President Trump is just the first president to get it done.”
Leavitt also called out major fraud findings that have been revealed. “And we also do know there has been extensive fraud, particularly if you look at social security. In fact, according to an IG report from the Social Security Administration, there was $71 billion worth of fraud in one single fiscal year that we know about. And so that is a lot of fraud Peter that the government has admitted to,” she said.

She further maintained, “We won’t be deterred. We will not be deterred from people like you and the press who are clearly adamantly opposed to cutting waste, fraud and abuse, but we know that American taxpayers at home who have been struggling with an inflationary crisis don’t want their tax dollars going towards crazy DEI programs in countries overseas.”
