Republican Ohio Senator JD Vance was recently selected to be former President Donald Trump’s running mate ahead of the election.  Vance allegedly received a phone call from Vice President Kamala Harris, presumably to congratulate him on his nomination.  However, the reports indicate that Vance declined to answer the call, to which Harris had to leave a voicemail.

ABC News Reporter Rachel Scott initially reported on the news that Harris had attempted to reach out to Vance after Trump posted on Truth Social that the Ohio Republican would be his running mate.  Scott claimed that the vice president was unable to connect with him with the senator, forcing her to leave a voicemail.

“ I just talked to a source who confirms that Vice President Kamala Harris did in fact call Ohio Senator J.D. Vance after Trump revealed that it would be his running mate,” Scott reported.  “I’m told that they did not connect, but I’m told that Harris did leave a voicemail. This crowd has been eagerly awaiting JD Vance and they’re already adapting to the news.”

“So many people writing in the name JD Vance on these Trump ‘Make America Great Again’ signs. They were chanting ‘JD Vance, JD Vance, JD Vance.’ You’re starting to hear some of the cheers as he makes his way down the aisle,” Scott added.  Vance was always considered one of Trump’s top potential picks for his running mate, but reports indicate that he wasn’t officially informed of the selection until 20 minutes before the former president publicly made the announcement.

On Monday, Trump posted on Truth Social, formally announcing that he had chosen JD Vance.  The Republican presidential nominee substantiated his selection by citing the senator’s long list of impressive accolades and accomplishments.  Trump maintained that Vance would best complement a second Trump administration through his interest in representing the working class.

“After lengthy deliberation and thought, and considering the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance of the Great State of Ohio. J.D. honorably served our Country in the Marine Corps, graduated from Ohio State University in two years, Summa Cum Laude, and is a Yale Law School Graduate, where he was Editor of The Yale Law Journal, and President of the Yale Law Veterans Association. J.D.’s book, “Hillbilly Elegy,” became a Major Best Seller and Movie, as it championed the hardworking men and women of our Country. J.D. has had a very successful business career in Technology and Finance, and now, during the Campaign, will be strongly focused on the people he fought so brilliantly for, the American Workers and Farmers in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Minnesota, and far beyond,” he said.

Trump continued, “As Vice President, J.D. will continue to fight for our Constitution, stand with our Troops, and will do everything he can to help me MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. Congratulations to Senator J.D. Vance, his wife, Usha, who also graduated from Yale Law School, and their three beautiful children. MAGA2024!”
