NOTE: Though Barron was nominated to be part of the Florida delegation, his mother, Melania, told the press that he has declined the honor because of previous commitments. This article has been kept in its original form, as at the time it was written Barron had been nominated and not yet turned it down, but it now appears that Barron will not be going.
Former President Donald Trump’s young son Barron, who is graduating high school this month, is getting involved in the political arena. He is doing so by becoming a delegate in the Republican National Convention, where he will vote for his father and very likely help propel him to the GOP’s nomination again. Former President Trump reacted to the news in a heartwarming video.
As background, Barron, now 18 years old, is joining other high-profile Republicans in the Trump family in participating in the Florida Republican Party’s convention delegation. Those others include Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, Don Jr’s fiance, Fox News commentator Kimberly Guilfoyle, and Michael Boulous, Tiffany Trump’s husband. Also going will be former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi.
Speaking about the Trump family’s participation in the delegation, Evan Power, the Chairman of the Florida Republican Party, said, “We are fortunate to have a great group of grassroots leaders, elected officials, and members of the Trump family working together as part of the Florida delegation to the 2024 Republican National Convention.”
In any case, Trump, speaking about the news in a heartwarming video, said that he finds the news that Barron is getting involved in the political process on his behalf “very cute.” He said, “To me, that’s very cute. Because he’s a very young guy. And he’s graduated from high school this year. He’s a very good student, very smart. And I think that’s great.”
Continuing, he said that his son’s participation is “very interesting” because of how young he is, saying, “I think it’s very interesting to he’s pretty young, I will say, he’s 18. But if they can do that, um, I’m all for it. I think I’m all for it and he probably would be knowing him he would probably be for it too.”
NBC 6, reporting on the heartwarming video, said, “Former President Donald Trump reacted to his son stepping into the political arena for the first time in an exclusive interview with Telemundo 51 Reporter Marilys Llanos. The teen was picked by the Republican Party of Florida on Wednesday as one of the state’s at-large delegates to the Republican National Convention, according to a list of delegates obtained by NBC News.”
Watch him here:
Trump, heading toward the GOP Convention, has been trying to hold the party together as fractures over mainly foreign policy issues threaten to turn a likely win into a close struggle. For example, in a recent Truth Social post, he said, “I absolutely love Marjorie Taylor Greene. She’s got Spirit, she’s got Fight, and I believe she’ll be around, and on our side, for a long time to come. However, right now, Republicans have to be fighting the Radical Left Democrats, and all the Damage they have done to our Country. With a Majority of One, shortly growing to three or four, we’re not in a position of voting on a Motion to Vacate.”
He continued, “At some point, we may very well be, but this is not the time. We are leading in the Presidential Polls by a lot, both Nationally and in the Swing States. Likewise, we are doing well in the Senate, and I believe will do well in the House. But if we show DISUNITY, which will be portrayed as CHAOS, it will negatively affect everything! Mike Johnson is a good man who is trying very hard. I also wish certain things were done over the last period of two months, but we will get them done, together. It is my request that Republicans vote for “THE MOTION TO TABLE.” We WILL WIN BIG – AND IT WILL BE SOON!”
