Incoming First Lady Melania Trump recently made a heartwarming statement about the devastating wildfires in Southern California that have leveled entire communities.  Melania extended her heartfelt condolences to those suffering amid the natural disaster, hoping and praying that they receive the assistance they need.

“The fires in California, it’s devastating. I’m thinking about those people, and I pray for them,” the first lady began. “So many people lost their homes, and I have a gentleman here on the crew working with me, he lost three homes. It’s devastating,” she added, illustrating the sheer loss that has occurred. Melania added that she hopes everyone receives the resources they need. “And i just hope that everybody evacuated, that they are safe. And I hope that the government and FEMA is there for to help them,” she said.

Melania received praise for her comments on social media, where one person wrote, “Our beautiful First Lady speaks out about the fires. ❤️ #MelaniaTrump”. Another user commented, “She’s the best 1st lady that we have had.”  Numerous other comments expressed love and support toward the First Lady and her desire to help those in need.

In light of Melania hoping for the federal government and FEMA to be helpful to Californians in need, some claimed that those in Western North Carolina who were devastated by Hurricane Helene months ago still have not received the help they need.  “Let’s see who they help first North Carolina or California this is going to get real interesting,” one comment read.

Another user echoed this sentiment, writing, “Maui and North Carolina are still suffering with no homes, heat, or resources. They have been ignored by FEMA. FEMA is tone deaf. People who lost everything were told to get online to register for aid. Areas still do not have heat or power. How can they access the internet.
Someone that lost THREE houses surely has resources to draw on unlike mountain people.”

President-elect Donald Trump has made numerous statements on the California fires, blaming the crisis on the state’s leadership, such as Governor Gavin Newsom.  Trump called out Newsom on Truth Social writing, “Governor Gavin Newscum should immediately go to Northern California and open up the water main, and let the water flow into his dry, starving, burning State, instead of having it go out into the Pacific Ocean. It ought to be done right now, NO MORE EXCUSES FROM THIS INCOMPETENT GOVERNOR. IT’S ALREADY FAR TOO LATE!”’

Trump said in another post, “Fire is spreading rapidly for 3 days — ZERO CONTAINMENT. Nobody has ever seen such failed numbers before! Gross incompetence by Gavin Newscum and Karen Bass….And Biden’s FEMA has no money — all wasted on the Green New Scam! L.A. is a total wipeout!!!”  Trump has long been critical of California’s water infrastructure and their forest management, arguing that incompetency has led to the crisis at hand.
