“It Got a Lot of Laughs”: Liz Warren Freaks Out about Trump Joke, and Scott Bessent Says He Can Roast Her Even Better [WATCH]

During the second day of a set of contentious hearings that unfolded on Capitol Hill, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent got into a rather rough and tumble encounter with Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) concerning whether Kevin Warsh, who was President Donald Trump’s Fed Chair nominee at the time, would be sued or investigated like his predecessor if he did not cut interest rates, which is what the president wants.

Warren asked if Bessent would commit to not suing Warsh if he should be confirmed to the position, to which he replied, “That — that is up to the president. Can you commit that you will not…” Warren interjected, “I’m sorry, you can’t say he won’t be sued if he doesn’t drop interest rates and he won’t be criminally investigated? That’s supposed to be a softball.”

“The president also made a joke about you that I won’t repeat, Sen. Warren,” Bessent wisecracked. “If this was a joke, why not just say so?” Warren asked the treasury secretary. “It was a joke, and he made a joke about you, too, Sen. Warren. Got a lot of laughs. Got a lot of laughs,” Bessent repeated. The comments didn’t land well for Sen. Jack Reed (D-RI) who told Bessent, “Your behavior to some of my colleagues is absolutely childish.”

According to a report from ABC News, Bessent was testifying before the Senate Banking Committee on the annual report from the Financial Stability Oversight Council, which monitors the stability of financial systems in the United States. Bessent also went toe-to-toe with Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) who, at one point, asked committee Chairman French Hill, “Can you shut him up?”

The comment section on a video of the incident shared by conservative pundit Nick Sortor said, “LMFAO! Elizabeth Warren was melting down over a joke President Trump said about the next Fed Chair, and Scott Bessent HIT BACK.” Another user, MAGA Kitty, responded to the post, “Based Bessent strikes again!” Someone else got a kick out of the way Warren responded to the line about Trump’s joke getting a lot of laughs.

“The way she agreed that it got a lot of laughs, ‘yeah, yeah,” the user wrote. Jacktron piped up in the comment section noting that “It’s always hilarious when someone makes fun of Pocahontas.” For some additional context, President Trump began referring to Warren’s lifelong claims of being Native American, only for her DNA to say otherwise.

User Post Script praised Bessent for his brilliance and quick wit, writing, “Scott is brilliant — they made fools of themselves again and he stepped aside and grinned while they did so.” Another user took a shot at Warren over her husband being mentioned in the infamous Epstein files, saying, “She’s sh***ng  because her husband is in the Epstein files several times.”

A person by the X handle of RH summed up Democratic senators nicely, writing, These democratic Senators have somehow trained not to listen AT ALL but to keep on talking BS. Ridiculous. Why don’t they just block the microphone? One question max 20 sec. Block. Answer max 1 min. Block. Etc. This sh** show is embarrassing. If normal people see this – what do they think? That all politicians are morons!! And guess what, they are spot on!!”
