Conservatives are now demanding that President Donald Trump rescind his endorsement of Rep. Maria Salazar (R-FL), which he originally made on February 10, 2026, due to her support for a piece of legislation known as the Dignity Act, which some say amounts to nothing more than amnesty for illegal aliens who have lived and worked in the U.S. for extended periods of time.
A post has gone viral on social media platform X, detailing what MAGA supporters believe is a betrayal of conservative values and an undermining of President Trump’s immigration enforcement efforts. According to popular account RINO Removal Project, Salazar often presents herself as being a moderate conservative, but her record seems to point toward her being a Republican In Name Only (RINO).
She was included in the account’s “RINO Wall of Shame” for sponsoring the Dignity Act, alongside Democrat Veronica Escobar. The bill includes a 7-year renewable legal status, work permits for illegal immigrants, protections from deportation and the possibility to return to the U.S. if an individual has already been deported.
The RINO Removal Project’s post summed up the overall aim of the legislation by saying, “Call it what it is: legalized amnesty under a different name.” The account accused Salazar of compromising as those within the America First movement continue to demand mass deportation and full enforcement of immigration law already on the books.
The post then noted that Salazar’s Heritage Action score was 53% with a note that said she has a pattern of placing establishment priorities over enforcement of the law. However, the Florida Republican does have some strong positives. She has a consistent voting record for supporting pro-life bills, which is in alignment with the GOP platform.
She also has an incredibly powerful personal story as a Cuban-American immigrant and businesswoman. However, the post notes that the biggest red flag against her is being the lead sponsor of the Dignity Act, which conservatives feel is a capitulation to establishment Republicans who are worried about keeping their seats in the upcoming midterm elections.
Salazar has a well-earned reputation for working out bipartisan immigration deals with Democrats. The account points out that her consistent call for immigration reform is in direct conflict with the America First movement, which wants enforcement, not reform. Voters, according to the RINO Removal Project, want to see the border sealed and secured, federal immigration enforcement agencies doing their jobs to preserve the country, and mass deportations.

They claim the Dignity Act would move things in the opposite direction by placing legal status for illegal aliens and work permits first and enforcement of the law second. “This is not what we voted for,” the post reads. “With the August 18, 2026 Republican primary approaching, voters have a clear choice. Challengers like V. Michael Arias and Gavin Solomon are already in the race,” it continues. The account then calls for President Trump to reconsider his endorsement of Salazar, in favor of backing one of the other candidates who does not support the amnesty provisions contained in the Dignity Act.
President .@realDonaldTrump endorsed Rep. María Elvira Salazar (FL-27) on February 10, 2026.
That endorsement should be reconsidered — immediately.
