This Christmas season, the internet has reacted to First Lady Jill Biden’s choice of holiday decorations with criticism. This year, Dr. Jill chose to incorporate what appeared to be circus themes into her design, where images from inside the White House show decorations such as a carousel ride wrapped around a Christmas tree and drapes seemingly inspired by a circus tent.
Reacting to the decorations, which depart from traditional Christmas decorations, some on social media have voiced their preference for incoming First Lady Melania Trump’s sense of style, expressing anticipation for her imminent return to the White House with President-elect Donald Trump. One comment on X read, “A look back at Christmas at the White House, the Melania years. She really is one of the classiest and most beautiful first ladies in American history.”
Expressing anticipation for the coming Christmas seasons under the Trump administration, one person said, “All of it is gorgeous, can’t wait for Christmas 2025. A live Nativity in the rose garden would be awesome, so much better than dudes with fake boobs running around. Or a Terminator “I’ll be back” vibe. Whatever she does will be so much better than the last 4 years.” Praising the incoming first lady for her taste, another person wrote, “Melania truly brought elegance back to the White House, even during the most chaotic times. Christmas during her years set a standard we haven’t seen in a long time. Pure class.”
One person shared their experience with White House decorations, “In 2019 I volunteered as a greeter for the Christmas White House. It was so beautiful. Youth choirs and orchestras, people all dressed up for the holidays and a joyous atmosphere. That crazy display from last year was like throwing paint all over the WH and showed total disrespect for the People’s House. I’m so glad the Bidens will be gone. Grace and elegance will return.”
Another person illustrated the depth of Melania’s impressive accolades. “Melania possesses more elegance and poise than any other modern day First Lady. She speaks seven languages, doesn’t have a mean bone in her body and exudes confidence in her every movement and word, that crosses her lips. She is truly world class,” another user wrote.
Another person illustrated how this year’s decorations in the Biden White House represent a broader decline in aesthetics over his term. The outgoing administration has fielded substantial criticism for hosting events that contradict traditions and conservative norms, such as reportedly having transgender influencers behaving inappropriately on the White House lawn.
“The Biden family has unleashed all kinds of aesthetic hell on the White House over the past few years, from “t*ts”-out transgender garden parties to some of the most horrendous outfits ever seen on a First Lady in America’s history. Naturally, the family’s final Christmas at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue was likely to be equally gauche, and Jill Biden appears to have met those expectations perfectly,” one person said.
