Infamous Anti-Trump Leaker Could Face Prosecution as House Republicans Refer Her to the DOJ

House Republicans led by Rep. Barry Loudermilk and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan referred former Trump aide Cassidy Hutchinson to the Justice Department for potential criminal charges, accusing her of lying to Congress in her 2022 January 6 testimony.

As background, Hutchinson, a leaker who later testified before Congress, damaged the president’s public image with claims about his supposed awareness of violence risks and a secondhand account of him lunging at a Secret Service agent in his limo. The referral stems from ongoing GOP efforts to challenge the original House Select Committee’s findings.

Additionally, Special Counsel Jack Smith previously noted inconsistencies in Hutchinson’s accounts, such as hearsay and conflicting witnesses, but made no final reliability judgment, as her testimony was not central to his Trump probe. There has been no official DOJ response as of yet.

In any case, Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) initially made a criminal referral of Hutchinson to the Justice Department. In his document, the Georgia Republican accused Hutchinson of lying to Congress in her partisan testimony when she alleged Trump was aware of the potential for violence on January 6, 2021.

Apparently, Loudermilk’s referral was co-signed by House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, who has been leading a major investigation into the January 6th narrative. Even former special counsel Jack Smith has major doubts about her testimony.

Smith stated, “The version of events that he (the other witness) explained was not the same as what Cassidy Hutchinson said she heard from somebody secondhand,” poking a hole in the DNC narrative about January 6th.

Allegedly, Smith reported that there was “a conflict” between stories from her and others. His team also found that other witnesses were “seeing it from a different perspective.” he also added that, “I don’t recall reaching any sort of conclusion like that because we were, again, far away from trial. We hadn’t made final determinations.”

One conservative lawyer stated, “House Repubicans has sent a criminal referral to the DOJ following evidence that Cassidy Hutchinson provided false testimony regarding J6 handwriting and a debunked physical altercation inside the presidential vehicle.”

Echoing these comments, another added, “BOOM 💥 Let’s go- (Rep) Barry Loudermilk has filed a criminal referral to the (DOJ) on Cassidy Hutchinson. He claims Hutchinson lied to Congress when she testified Trump lunged into the front seat of the limo on J6 and grabbed the steering wheel from SS agts.”

The conservative added, “That agt wanted to testify, b4 the J6 Committee, but Liz Cheney denied his request. Will Liz Cheney also face Justice for accusations of witness tampering with Hutchinson, for speaking with her w-o a lawyer present. PLOT THICKENS… LOCK HER UP.”

Progressive freaked out about the referral. “Former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson is Rep. Loudermilk’s target for speaking the truth. He was one of the Republicans who gave tours of the Capitol before the attempted insurrection,” one post claimed.

The same source alleged, “Ironically, he’s the chair of the committee looking into the J6 Committee. Loudermilk demands that Hutchinson be sent to prison for exposing Donald Trump’s guilt in the attempted overthrow of our government. She’s an American hero.”

Wrapping up, the biased post read, “Once again, Cassidy will testify in front of the Republican committee and she’ll “open the can of worms” that may lead to charges after Donald Trump leaves office. Republicans probably should let sleeping dogs lie but if they want to expose Donald Trump again, Democrats aren’t opposed.”
