An Indian woman from Lafayette, Indiana was taken into custody in Washington, D.C. and charged in connection with making a series of death threats against President Donald Trump, according to information released by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro, formerly of Fox News. Nathalie Rose Jones, 50, was charged in a complaint filed in the U.S. District Court.
Jones is facing one count of threatening to take the life of, kidnap, or inflict bodily harm on the President of the United States, and transmitting in interstate commerce communications containing threats to kidnap any person or any threat to injure the person of another. “Threatening the life of the President is one of the most serious crimes and one that will be met with swift and unwavering prosecution. Make no mistake—justice will be served,” U.S. Attorney Pirro stated.
“We extend our deepest gratitude to our dedicated law enforcement partners, especially the Secret Service Special Agents from New York and Washington, D.C., for their tireless commitment to protecting our leaders and our nation,” she added. Special Agent in Charge Matt McCool of the Secret Service said, “Protecting the President of the United States is our highest priority, and every potential threat is addressed with the utmost seriousness,”
“Special Agents from New York and Washington, DC, working in close coordination with prosecutors from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, acted swiftly and decisively to neutralize this alleged threat before it could escalate. We are deeply grateful to the dedicated professionals who worked tirelessly to advance this investigation and safeguard our nation’s leadership,” he added, according to a Justice Department press release.
Court documents said that members of the U.S. Secret Service observed that an Instagram user account, known as “nath.jones,” had posted several threatening comments about assassinating the president of the United States. The individual made calls for Trump to be removed from office, referred to him as a terrorist, called his administration a dictatorship, and then said that he had caused extreme and unnecessary loss of life in connection with COVID-19.
On social media platform Facebook, Jones continued making threats against the president. In a comment that was directed at the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Jones went on to write, “I am willing to sacrificially kill this POTUS by disemboweling him and cutting out his trachea with Liz Cheney and all The Affirmation present.”
Another threat, this time directed at Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, Jones wrote, “please arrange the arrest and removal ceremony of POTUS Trump as a terrorist on the American People from 10-2pm at the White House on Saturday, August 16th, 2025.” The Secret Service later conducted a voluntary interview with Nath Jones, who referred to Trump as a “terrorist” and a “Nazi,” adding that if she were given the chance, she would kill the president and would do so at “the compound” using a “bladed object.”

She was interviewed a second time the following day, admitting that she made the threats against President Trump. She was arrested and confirmed to be the owner of the Nath Jones accounts on social media, confessing to posting the threatening messages. The case is being investigated by the U.S. Secret Service.
