In More Revenge, Dems Who Derailed Al Green Censure Could Be Stripped Of Committee Roles

Rep. Andy Ogles, R-Tenn. filed a resolution to punish the House Democrats who opposed the censure of Rep. Al Green, D-Texas,  on March 6, 2025. Green disrupted President Trump’s address to Congress and was ejected by the Sergeant at Arms. While twelve Democrats crossed the aisle to condemn Green, the remainder opposed his punishment. If Ogles’ resolution passes, the representatives who supported Green would be stripped of their committee assignments.

Ogles announced his intention to file the resolution in a thread on X. “Today, a group of House Democrats broke decorum during the censure of Rep. Al Green and, after multiple warnings, refused to heed @SpeakerJohnson‘s order,” Ogles wrote. “I am drafting privileged resolutions to remove each of them from their committees. If you want to act like a child in the Halls of Congress, you will be treated like a child.”

“On Tuesday, President Trump delivered one of the greatest speeches in American history during his Address to Congress. Today, the House passed a motion to censure Rep. Al Green, who violated basic House decorum and decency when he disrupted @POTUS during his address,” the Texas republican said to provide background to his resolution.

“There must be accountability. The American people deserve better than petty, juvenile stunts in one of the most sacred chambers of government,” Ogles concluded. The representative spoke to Fox News Digital to explain his actions. “The speaker, he’s a good man, he’s a Christian man. He has a kind heart. With grace, he gave them the opportunity to stop and they refused to do so,” he reported.

“So, look, if you wanna act like a petulant child on the House floor and you’re given a warning and a reprimand, and you choose not to stop, then actions need to be taken,” Ogles told the outlet. He also explained the consequences contained in his resolution. “Upon submission of that list to the speaker,” the Green supporters would be “removed from any standing committee on which they currently serve for the remainder of the 119th Congress. ”

“We have a country to run. The failed policies of Joe Biden is why they lost the House, why they lost the Senate, why they lost the presidency. They can lick their wounds all day, but they still have to behave on the House floor,” Ogles confidently stated.”We can disagree on issues and politics, but we’re gonna respect one another, and I’m tired of this crap.”

Despite his censure, Green remains defiant. “I heard the speaker when he said that I should cease. I did not, and I did not with intentionality. It was not done out of a burst of emotion,” the 77-year-old democrat said. “I think that on some questions, questions of conscience, you have to be willing to suffer the consequences. And I have said I will. I will suffer whatever the consequences are, because I don’t believe that in the richest country in the world, people should be without good healthcare.”
