One California homeowner who lost nearly everything in the devastating Palisades fire was reunited with his dog Oreo, in a heartwarming moment. The dog managed to survive the blaze, which completely destroyed his home, spending 5 days alone in the rubble. Reportedly, firefighters previously located another one of the man’s dogs, but Oreo ran off into the neighborhood.
Fearing for the worst, the man, identified as Casey Colvin, returned to the neighborhood but was met with the sight of Oreo waiting for him at the top of the driveway. Moved to tears as Oreo crawled under the gate to meet his owner, the man picked up the dog in amazement that he was still alive. The man ran through the street shouting with joy and repeatedly thanking God for what was nothing short of a miracle.
Days after the house burned down, an update came in that Oreo was sleeping in the rubble of a neighbor’s house. Upon discovering Oreo, Colvin shouted, “Oh, honey! Oh my God, you’re alive! You’re alive!” while holding his dog up in the air. As he ran around the street, unable to contain his joy, he proclaimed, “Yes! Oh, thank you, Jesus! Thank you, God!”
Reportedly, Colvin was at work when the evacuation orders were issued for the Palisades. Attempting to get back home and rescue his beloved dogs, he reportedly spent five hours in Los Angeles traffic trying to return to this house. “I literally rescued them off the streets, they deserve better than this,” Colvin said in stand-still traffic. “How do I get to my house?” he asked in desperation.
Conservative commentator Graham Allen shared the heartwarming reunion on Facebook, offering an optimistic story amid the destruction. “With all the destruction, it was amazing to see a miracle take place: A Palisades Fire victim just found and reunited with his dog Oreo, who spent 5 nights in his home’s rubble,” Allen wrote.
Thousands of people commented under the post, reacting to the video. One person said, “I just love the way he thank Jesús God almighty. It is absolutely not fake. The negative comments are only from those people that don’t believe in God . . I’m so happy the puppy reunited with his owner. I’m happy happy. Thank you Jesus Christ amen 🙏.”
Providing more details on what reportedly happened, another comment read, “From a report I saw, he wasn’t home when the fires started. The firefighters found his little black dog but not the other. He was worried to death about him the entire time.” Rejoicing over Oreo’s survival, another comment read, “Made me cry! I love this and I am SO happy for him and his furry family member! 😊❤️”
Empathizing with Colvin, another person wrote, “I know how he feels … that’s how I would be acting had I lost and then found my cats alive … God Bless him and thank you God for saving the doggy… please help all the hurt pets and wildlife that have been rescued and help them to be reunited with their loved ones/owners.”
