An illegal immigrant in Las Vegas has been accused of a fatal crash earlier this month that claimed the life of a police officer. On Dec. 12, 31-year-old Fernando Jimenez-Jimenez allegedly drove a Ford F150 pickup truck down the wrong way of the interstate. The truck collided with the vehicle of Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) Officer Colton Pulsipher, who was 29 years old. Both men died as a result of the accident.
The LVMPD released a statement on Facebook explaining the incident. “Today, Officer Colton Pulsipher was laid to rest in a heartfelt ceremony in Moapa,” the post read. “The outpouring of love and support was a testament to his incredible impression on this community. Officer Pulsipher served with courage, integrity, and dedication, always putting the safety of others before his own.”
Honoring the legacy Pulsipher left behind, the statement from the LVMPD, concluded, “As we honor his legacy, we remember a man who truly embodied the spirit of service. He will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Rest easy, Officer Pulsipher. We’ve got it from here.”
President-elect Donald Trump has campaigned hard to remove illegal immigrants from the United States, who have poured over the southern border in historic numbers under the Biden administration. The American Tribune recently reported on comments from incoming border czar Tom Homan, who warned local officials not to “test” him. “I’ve said 100 times in the last week, don’t cross that line. It’s a felony to knowingly harbor and conceal illegal alien from immigration authorities – don’t test us,” Homan said while standing alongside Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
Praising Governor Abbott’s efforts to secure the border in the Lone Star State, he added, “You’re not just protecting Texas, you’re protecting the entire country.” He added, “Governor Abbott has done an amazing job. Illegal immigration in Texas is down 86%, 86% think about that. This is a model we can take across the country. We’re going to help Governor Abbott finish the job he started.”
Homan sent a strong message that those who crossed the border unlawfully would be held accountable for their illegal entrance to the United States. “Let me be clear, there is going to be a mass deportation because we just finished a mass illegal immigration crisis on the border,” he said. “If we don’t do it, what is the option? Let them stay? Cause if you let them stay, you’ll never fix the border.”
The former law enforcement officer and ICE official maintained that a message must be sent that foreigners that they cannot illegally enter the country without consequences. Homan emphasized that illegal border crossings must be deterred. “You’re gonna send a message to the rest of the world: enter the country illegally, which is a crime, ignore a court order … we’re telling the whole world it’s OK to enter this country illegally, you’ve never got to go home,” he said.
