As an Arizona rancher rots in jail for defending his property from illegal immigrants, an illegal immigrant in Texas has just been arrested and charged with murdering a 57-year-old mother of three and grandmother of four in La Marque, Texas. That illegal immigrant is Carlos Lara-Balcazar, 34. The woman that he allegedly murdered is Maria Rios, 57.
Police caught the suspect when he was initially arrested for tampering with evidence related to the murder of Mrs. Rios. He threw the evidence away in a dumpster about 7 minutes away from his home KHOU 11 reports, and that evidence marked him as a potential suspect in the case. Galveston County Daily News, reporting on how the dumpster led to his arrest, reports that:
Evidence found in a dumpster in the 3000 block of Golfcrest Boulevard in Houston led investigators to identify Lara-Balcazar as a suspect in the case, Lt. Forest Gandy with the La Marque Police Department Investigative Services Division said last week.
The U.S. Marshals Service’s Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Fugitive Task Force executed an arrest warrant for Lara-Balcazar at 2505 Broadway in Houston, Gandy said.
Carlos was then arrested and charged with murder, as the La Marque Police Department posted about on Facebook, saying:
Update:
La Marque Police Department’s continued investigation has resulted in a Carlos Lara-Balcazar being charged with Murder, which was assigned a bond of $250,000. The investigation will continue and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the La Marque Police Department.
Further, the La Marque Police Department will continue to pray for the victim’s family. Maria Rios was undeserving of such a brutal and senseless death. Please pray that the family finds peace in this difficult time.
Mr. Lara-Balcazar, the illegal immigrant charged with the murder, is being held at the Galveston County Jail. There, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has placed a detainer on him, which means that if he is released from local custody at any time, he will be turned over to ICE agents for arrest and deportation. Sadly, he wasn’t deported before he brought bloodshed and tragedy to the American homeland.
KHOU 11, adding more details about the horrific murder of Mrs. Rios, also reported that:
Maria Rios, a 57-year-old Rosharon woman, was found dead Tuesday at a “bloody” scene inside a house at a construction site on Green Jay Lane, in the new Sunset Grove subdivision.
Police said Rios owned the company that was contracted to clean the house once it was finished.
Police said Lara-Balcazar may know Rios and her death was not “random.”
Cynthia Espindola, Ms. Rios’ daughter, told KHOU 11:
“She loved everyone. She was the voice of the family. The one that got the family together. I just can’t believe that somebody could be that evil to do something to a woman who just did not deserve it.”
“My sister just called me and told me that they weren’t able to find her. They weren’t able to locate her car.”
