Speaking to former CNN personality Chris Cuomo on NewsNation, top Democrat mega-donor John Morgan commented on Vice President Kamala Harris’s failed presidential bid, noting that Harris dramatically overspent and mismanaged her campaign. He told Cuomo, summarizing his view, “If you can’t run a campaign, you can’t run a country.”
Commenting on one way in which Kamala mismanaged her campaign and ad spending, Morgan noted that they were even running advertisements in Florida, likely because the consultants wanted to be paid for ad buys. He said, “She had all this money coming in. She had all these consultants, and if you don’t run the ads, you don’t get paid for the buy. They were running ads in Florida, where I live, nonstop.”
Building on that, he said he questioned whether they were running huge ad campaigns in other utterly unwinnable states like Alabama, then gave his take on why so much money was wasted in that manner. He said, “And I’m like, why? I mean, are they running in Alabama and Idaho, too? And I’ll tell you why. If you don’t run the ads, the buyer doesn’t get paid.”
Still not done, Morgan said that Kamala did terribly and likely doesn’t have a future in politics, saying, “I told everybody, she should not have been the nominee. She was not going to win, and she didn’t win, and she lost badly…. So she’s having a call with donors this week, and they tell me about her political future. I don’t think she has a political future. So that’s my thought on her.”
Speaking yet more about the consultants and how they milked ad commissions out of her, Morgan said, “All of a sudden, everybody’s got the keys to the candy store, ad buyers, talent consultants. There’s 100 days to do it, and the money started pouring in.” He noted that “ego” and a “crazy” desire to obtain commissions from ads meant immense, wasteful spending.
Then, when Cuomo asked if money was stolen from the Kamala campaign, Morgan said, “Maybe legally.” He added, noting what her massively wasteful spending shows about her inability to lead anything, much less a country like America, “I think this disqualifies her forever. If you can’t run a campaign, you can’t run America.”
The Vigilant Fox X (formerly Twitter) account, which focuses mainly on news and media clips related to current events, characterized Morgan’s comments by saying, “HOLY SMOKES: Democrat mega-donor John Morgan says Kamala Harris’s political future is OVER after she completely botched her campaign.”
A commenter on the post said, referencing Kamala’s ambitions and support for 2028, “Anyone with common sense knows that her career is over. But please run again in 2028.” Responding, the Vigilant Fox said, “I can’t imagine being a donor and watching campaign funds wasted on ads targeting Florida residents. Despite raising massive amounts of money, the campaign blew through it all through sheer mismanagement. If I were a Dem donor, I would never give money to Kamala again.”
