In yet more big news for those who are hoping to see the Trump Administration take strong action against both illegal immigration and the pilfering of Social Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) caught a dozen and a half illegal immigrants stealing from Social Security, levying charges against them that could see them spend up to 12 years in prison.
For context, the arrests come alongside comments from Trump Administration officials like Stephen Miller that foreign fraud gangs have been stealing up to a trillion dollars, from Social Security, something that both DOGE and federal law enforcement are looking into in an attempt to save huge amounts of money for American taxpayers and preserve the critical Social Security programs.
In any case, the ICE Tampa field office announced in a press release on Friday, April 11, that a long-term effort had led to the arrest of 18 illegal aliens over identity theft related to Social Security. Beginning, it said, “Eighteen criminal illegal aliens have been charged as the result of an immigration-related identity theft investigation following a multi-agency effort with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.”
Continuing, ICE described what it is that the illegal aliens are accused of doing, which mainly centered around Social Security-adjacent identity theft. It said, “Each individual has been charged with aggravated identity theft, misuse of Social Security numbers, and false statements regarding citizenship with the intent to engage unlawfully in employment.”
Then, going from describing the crimes to commenting on the punishments, ICE noted that the illegal aliens will, if convicted, face between two and twelve years in federal prison for their identity theft operation. It said, “If convicted on all counts, each faces a minimum penalty of two years, up to 12 years, in federal prison.”
Later in the press release, after naming each charged illegal alien and when they were indicted or face court, ICE noted the vast slew of agencies involved in the arrests and charges, saying, “These cases were investigated by ICE Homeland Security Investigations Tampa, the Department of Transportation – Office of Inspector General, the Social Security Administration – Office of the Inspector General, the United States Border Patrol, the Department of Labor – Office of Inspector General, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. They cases are being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Karyna Valdes and Christopher F. Murray, and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph Wheeler, III.”
Stephen Miller, commenting in an interview on Fox News Channel about the foreign fraud gangs pilfering Social Security, exposed the role that identity theft of the sort ICE just arrested the illegal aliens for plays in their fraud, saying, “Foreign nationals coming to the United States using fake Social Security numbers and fake identities to steal billions in taxpayers’ benefits.”

Continuing, and exposing the massive scope of the fraud, Miller said, “There is no way to know until DOGE gains full access exactly how much money we’re talking about. But over a ten-year budget window, you could be talking about saving over $1 trillion by clamping down on massive fraud in our tax and entitlement systems, including, again, those carried out by organized fraud and theft rings.”
