ICE Catches and Arrests Illegal Alien Released by Judge Despite Being Accused of Beheading Woman

Marking another life lost to open-borders insanity, the decapitated remains of 37-year-old Megan Bos were discovered in April 2025, in a bleach-filled container in Jose Luis Mendoza-Gonzalez’s Waukegan, Illinois, yard. Mendoza-Gonzalez, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, allegedly hid her body for nearly two months after Bos overdosed.

For context, instead of calling the police, the illegal immigrant smashed the victim’s phone and hid her corpse. The man has been charged with concealment, corpse abuse, and obstruction, but was released after just 48 hours because of Illinois’ SAFE-T Act, sparking furious outrage.

In any case, a spokesman for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) slammed the release and promised that the victim’s family would receive justice. The DHS stated,  “It is absolutely repulsive this monster walked free on Illinois’ streets after allegedly committing such a heinous crime. Megan Bos and her family will have justice.”

Echoing these remarks, Antioch Mayor Scott Gartner was appalled. He stated, “I was shocked to find out literally the next day that the person that they had arrested for this had been released from prison under the SAFE-T Act, less than, detained less, I think, than 48 hours.”

However, the politician said that the decision was inexcusable. Gartner added, “There’s other extenuating circumstances in this case. Not only the type of crime, how long the crime was concealed, the fact that the person that was arrested for this is not a U.S. citizen, and, you know, can maybe [flee] the country.”

Digging into the details, the mayor stated that there were alternative ways to handle the situation. He declared, “There are two ways to hold somebody, and that is obviously the nature of the crime and then the flight risk element… I think what should happen is that they should have pressed for the highest amount of charges and applied the law, um, as it’s written and found a way to keep this person detained, especially given the fact of, you know, this was concealed for 60 days.”

Joining in, Republican state Rep. Tom Weber slammed the local authorities for letting the suspect free after only two days in custody. He said, “Someone that hid their body in a garbage can for 51 days after leaving it in the basement for two days, after not calling 911 [and] breaking a phone. Is this a non-detainable offense? Should we not find out, wait for a toxicology report, anything?”

Tragically, Megan’s friends and family were devastated by her loss and the fact that the suspect was let free so quickly. After she disappeared in February, her mother, Jennifer Bos, spent countless hours looking for her daughter. Reacting to the discovery of Megan’s remains, she stated, “It’s all I get back from her. It’s her jewelry. I didn’t get to see her.”

Jennie Szalay, a close friend of the deceased, described searching for Megan. She explained, “Where we centralized most of the searches was within 200 feet of where she was the entire time.” Promising to keep pushing for justice, Jenn Merritt, another friend, said, “We’re not stopping Megan’s story, is because we want justice for her, but we never want this to happen to somebody else again.”
