Co-host of “The View” Whoopi Goldberg, has recently made headlines after outlining a scenario in which she would hypothetically quit her job as a panelist on the daytime talk show. According to Goldberg, if she “had all the money in the world” she would not be on “The View” providing her opinions as a long-time co-host on the show.
Conservative commentator Mario Nawfal commented on the news, writing on X, “WHOOPI GOLDBERG SAYS SHE’D QUIT ‘THE VIEW’ IF SHE HAD ENOUGH MONEY…Whoopi Goldberg shocked viewers on The View by admitting she’d quit the show if she were financially set, declaring, “If I had all the money in the world, I would not be here.”
He continued, “The 68-year-old co-host, who has been with the show since 2007, shared her struggles with working-class issues, saying she relates to those facing hard times.” Nawfal called out a recent controversy regarding Goldberg’s criticism of the grocery industry regarding inflation. “Her comments come amid backlash for calling grocery store owners “pigs” over food inflation, which led to sharp criticism from the grocery industry,” he said.
Nawfal shared a clip from “The View,” in which Goldberg made the comment about quitting. A fellow co-host Ana Navarro began, “People who are going to run again in four years, they better start getting known, particularly in the swing states in addition to the primary states.” Goldberg chimed in, “I’m sorry, when you have one candidate who has been running for twelve years lies and changes things, I appreciate that people are having a hard time. Me too. I work for a living. If I had all the money in the world I would not be here.”
However, some users on social media have questioned Goldberg’s assertion that she works “for a living” considering reports on her vast net worth. One person commented, “She reportedly is worth 60M… just yet another example of how out of touch these far left liberal elitist are from the normal working class American ppl. she insults us all when she tries to gas light us into thinking shes working and just scraping by just like everyone else.”
Another person said, “Goldberg, whose net worth is estimated to be around $60 million, has amassed a fortune from her career in acting, hosting, and producing. Her salary for The View is reported to be $8 million annually, which is a far cry from the financial realities most working Americans face. While she criticizes grocery store owners as “pigs” over food inflation, it’s hard to take her claims seriously when she’s out of touch with the daily struggles of people living paycheck to paycheck.”
Another person suggested that this is a way for Goldberg to backpedal on her claims that she would feel the country if Donald Trump won the election. “She has millions and can live any lifestyle anywhere. Remember she said she was going to leave the country if Trump was elected, this is her weaseling out of it,” one person commented.
