Posting on X on Sunday, January 21, conservative comedian Rob Schneider put the woke CEO of United Airlines on blast, telling the high-power executive that he will refuse to fly on the airline in the future because of how he sees it as having prioritized DEI policies over passenger safety. Schneider’s comments came as part of a larger conservative backlash against DEI in the wake of the Claudine Gay scandal at Harvard.
In his tweet about the issue, Mr. Schneider argued that an almost deadly accident in 2023 that involved one of United Airlines’ flights. He insinuated that, had United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby and his company been focused on business rather than promoting and prioritizing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, then the accident could have been avoided.
Beginning the tweet, Mr. Schneider noted that Mr. Kirby allegedly performs in drag shows and then launched into his explanation of why he and his family will avoid United Airlines from now on. He wrote, “Dear Scott Kirby CEO @UnitedAirlines and Drag Queen practitioner, I regret to inform you that I will no longer allow my family to fly on your airline as you have clearly placed “diversity” of pilot hiring above safety of passengers and crew.”
He then gave an example of why he thinks United is no longer a safe airline on which he and his family members can fly. Doing so, he wrote, “As evidenced by the near aviation catastrophe of UA Boeing 777 flight 1722 from Maui to San Francisco Dec 18th 2023, where your diverse but incompetent flight crew didn’t know which flaps were causing its near disastrous dissent, coming within 750 feet of killing every one aboard your United Airline.”
Continuing, Mr. Schneider claimed that numerous employees of United have praised him for calling out Kirby’s leadership of United, writing, “I cannot tell you how many @UnitedAirlines employees have personally thanked me for my valid criticism of your careless and life threatening leadership.”
Concluding, Mr. Schneider again addressed the drag allegations surrounding Mr. Kirby, writing, “I look forward to your swift dismissal by UA’s board of directors before your inane actions cause the deaths of hundreds of men, women and children. After your inevitable firing you can get back to your true passion, your Drag Queen performances. Sincerely yours, Rob Schneider Former 1K United Airline frequent flyer.”
In another post about a similar topic, Schneider said that he was against flying on Virgin Atlantic as well. That came in response to a tweet from the Libs of TikTok X account. In the tweet, that account said, “This is an actual Virgin Atlantic ad. They had a “pride flight” featuring a diverse crew & drag queen flight attendants. Last week a @VirginAtlantic flight was canceled after a passenger noticed missing bolts. Perhaps @VirginAtlantic should focus more on safety and less on DEI and drag queens.” Schneider, responding, said, “Hard pass @VirginAtlantic Passenger and Crew Safety must take precedence over men cross dressing.”
