In the wake of the horrible air ambulance crash in Philadelphia that left six people dead, numerous videos of the tragic incident emerged on social media. Particularly, things took off on X (formerly Twitter), where such things have a way of going quite viral, particularly under Elon’s management of the platform. Amongst those videos that really took off was one of a man in a drive-thru line at a fast food restaurant who kept driving through the line as the plane crashed nearby.
As background, the Learjet 55 that crashed was piloted by a company called Jet Rescue Air Ambulance. That company announced as much in a statement posted to LinkedIn shortly after the tragic incident. It said, beginning the statement, “On Friday, January 31st, at approximately 18:25 EST, Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, experienced a crash. The aircraft XA-UCI, Learjet 55, crashed after take off from Philadelphia.”
Continuing, the company said that six people died in the crash but it would not release their names until the families had been notified. It said, “There were four (4) crew members and two (2) passengers (pediatric patient and her mother) on board. There were no survivors. No names are being released at this time until family members have been notified.”
The company also gave its condolences to the families of those who died in the crash, saying, “The Jet Rescue Air Ambulance family extends its heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathy to the family of the patient, families of our team members, and anyone who was hurt on the ground.” It then thanked the first responders involved, saying, “Jet Rescue Air Ambulance extends sincere thanks to the many first responders, as well as the City, County and State leadership who mobilized emergency resources to the crash site. Thank you Philadelphia and Pennsylvania for a remarkable response.”
It concluded by saying, “Thanks to our friends and colleagues who reached out to express their support and offer help during this challenging time. Special thanks to the many reporters and media outlets who reached out to us for information. We are touched by the dignified, respectable and professional conduct of the media and greatly appreciate the factual coverage of this tragic accident.”
In any case, one of the clips from the incident that went absolutely viral on X in its aftermath was posted by a man going by “Abu_XRP,” a reference to the cryptocurrency. “Abu,” who identifies in his X bio as an Arab-American, posted a clip in which a man, who appears to be him (though this is uncertain), is at the ordering part of a fast food line as the plane crashed to his left.
He then exclaims, as the fireball ignites and bathes the area in a dreadful orange glow, “Oh, sh*t! A f*cking plane just crashed! Oh, sh*t.” But then, instead of speeding away, trying to back out of the drive-thru and flee, or otherwise leave, he appears to get back in food-ordering mode and steers his Cadillac to the left, through the remainder of the drive-thru lane to get his food. It appears to be Abu who was in the video. When Fox News Channel journalist Sophia Compton asked, “Did you take this video/photo? If so, can we have permission to use it on Fox News Channel, Fox Business Network, Fox Nation, Fox Weather, Outkick, and all Fox News Edge affiliates across all platforms until further notice with courtesy to you?” He replied, “How much are you paying ?”
Additionally, Abu said, as a comment on the posted video of the incident, that the incident was scary and he had just been there to get some fast-food chicken. He wrote, in that comment, “I was just trying to grab some chicken shit was definetly scary.”
Here was another angle of the plane crash:
