“I wanted to know what’s happening down here”: Dr. Phil Discusses Shocking Discovery During Trip to Southern Border

Dr. Phil McGraw recently took a trip to the southern border to the southern border where he shared his appalling experience in witnessing the illegal immigration crisis firsthand.  McGraw appeared on Fox News’ “Hannity” where he detailed the frustration shared by border patrol agents struggling to keep the border under control amid the failures of the Biden administration.

Dr. Phil explained his motivation for traveling to the border with Mexico as trying to gain a better understanding of the crisis through speaking with members of law enforcement, who illustrated that the extent of the border crossings is far greater than the official reported numbers.

“And I wanted to know what’s happening down here. What’s really going on? You know, we hear this number 6 million people have come across under the current administration. I talked to experts down there that say that number is a myth that it’s closer to 13 to 14 million that have come across and I asked him straight up, what is it? You need here and they I was shocked to hear them say, We don’t need more money. We don’t need more resources. We don’t need more officers. We don’t need more legislation. We just need the laws that are on the books to be followed. We need to be allowed to do our job, and we can get this under control right now,” McGraw said.

According to the testimony of border agents, the crisis could be mitigated “overnight” if they were permitted to enforce the rule of law upon illegal border crossers.  The former talk show host explained how Americans should be worried about the unfettered inflow of migrants who could be coming from adversarial nations.

“I’ll promise you, they are expected to do certain things. Are they spying? Are they sending seeds back from farming to China? Are they getting plans in the industries they’re working in? Who knows what they’re doing, and we need to know,” he told Fox News host Sean Hannity.

McGraw stressed that the current policies surrounding the border are simply not working in a manner that would keep our country secure.  He further claimed that, as a nation, we should not be encouraging the rampant illegal border crossings that have occurred under the Biden administration.

“We have the right to know that, to control who’s coming into this country. As I said, you don’t reward bad behavior. You don’t subsidize things you don’t want to see more of. But that’s what’s happening,” McGraw said.

Dr. Phil further pointed out the disturbing nature of how illegal immigrants behave differently toward state and federal law enforcement.  McGraw claimed that if migrants see the Texas Department of Public Safety they run in fear of being arrested.  In contrast, he alleges that illegal immigrants will seek out federal agents in hopes of being released into the American interior.

“So you see these groups coming across and if they see a brown uniform they hide. If they see a green uniform, they run towards it,” he added. “That to me is just insane that we have that kind of difference going on down there with guys working side by side.”
