Dr. John Forsyth, an ER doctor who also created a cryptocurrency alongside his brother, was just found dead from a gunshot wound in a lake in northwest Arkansas after going missing on May 21st.
Dr. Forsyth, an ER doctor at a hospital in a town of just a few thousand people deep in the Ozarks, Mercy Hospital in Cassville, Missouri, was reported missing after he missed his 7 pm shift there. His brother, Richard, told Fox News Digital that it “was an immediate red flag” that he did not show up for his shift, missing work for the first time in a decade and a half, because he is “punctual in the extreme” and “he wouldn’t miss a shift even if his eyeballs were hanging out of their sockets.”
The Cassville Police Department, shortly after Dr. Forsyth went missing, asked for help finding him on Facebook in a May 22nd post, saying, “Missing person, last seen at 7:00 AM yesterday (Sunday, May 21) morning. If anyone has any information or has seen this subject, please call Barry County E911 at (417) 847-3121 or you can message our page.”
Unfortunately, Dr. Forsyth was found dead in northwest Arkansas after the week-long search for him. Richard, without providing evidence of foul-play, said, “We’re in shock. I suspect foul play.” Despite not having any evidence in this case, Richard did say that Dr. Forsyth was mysteriously kidnapped and released in 2022. Speaking about that, he said, “It was cold. He was zip-tied. He was made to feel very unsafe and taken on a car ride with some people to a bridge and he was threatened,”
Oddly, Dr. Forsyth’s possessions were found. His sedan, a black Infinity, was found abandoned at the Cassville Aquatic Park. The keys were still inside the car when found, as was his wallet, his passport, and a briefcase. Further, both of Dr. Forsyth’s cell phones, which Richard said were never not near him, were found inside the unlocked, luxury RV in which Dr. Forysth lived.
Making the situation and Dr. Forsyth’s disappearance yet odder, he had seven children and had just gotten engaged three days before his suspicious disappearance. Speaking about that, Richard said, “His fiancé was texting him around 7am… and as he was leaving he was texting her things like ‘Hey, my shift’s over’ and ‘I’ll see you a little bit later.” Continuing, Richard also said, “And then minutes later, he stops responding to text messages and is seen walking toward his RV.”
Dr. Forsyth’s son J.R. was surprised and confused about his disappearance as well, saying, “My dad is a very logical person and I kind of tend to be that way as well. And I can’t think of any logical conclusion as to why he would just vanish like this.”
Dr. Forsyth, in addition to being a doctor, was a cryptocurrency creator. He founded the ONFO coin in 2020 alongside his brother Richard. The coin was different from other cryptocurrency projects because it encouraged “network mining,” incentivizing miners and users of it to bring in new users by providing coins for mining referrals. In addition to the network mining concept, ONFO coin was famous for its shocking promotion videos, such as one titled “THE U S DOLLAR IS DOOMED.”
Dr. Forsyth was also an early adopter of Bitcoin and so was recognized by Forbes in 2020 as a “Bitcoin millionaire.”
