In a fiery episode of ABC’s “The View” on Wednesday, September 25, “The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg and President Joe Biden spoke about how he had been ousted from the Democratic Party’s presidential ballot over his age, and how she sees his ouster as being incredibly unfair and performed poorly.
Particularly, Goldberg complained to Biden, who was there on the show with her, that she things those Democrats who made public statements about the mental capabilities of the president and his age should have kept quiet and kept moving forward regardless of whether or not they thought he was capable of being president.
Biden, for his part, spoke about his exit and why it happened. He told Whoopi and the viewing audience that he had always intended for his presidency to be “transitional,” and then, at another point, he said that he finally realized how old he is quite recently. He said, “It’s hard to think of — it’s hard for me to even say how old I am. No, I’m serious … It’s like, holy God, that can’t be right.”
Further, President Biden insisted that he didn’t drop out because of reluctance amongst members of the Democratic Party about his running again, saying, “I never fully believed the assertions that somehow there was this overwhelming reluctance of my running again…my polling was about…always within range of beating this guy I didn’t sense that….I was confident. I would beat Trump.”
Whoopi, in any case, heard that and still sounded off. She said that she “didn’t like it,” meaning the decision to take President Biden off the presidential ticket over the summer, and particularly was against “the way it was done,” which was very much in the public eye as commentators and the public wondered what would happen to Biden.
She said, commenting quite bluntly on the matter, “Listen, I didn’t like the way they did it. I’m going to just say it out loud, because nobody says it out loud. I didn’t like the way it was done publicly. I thought they could have done this in a different way, because we didn’t need to hear all the inner fighting. I didn’t like it.”
President Biden stayed silent as she ranted. She continued, saying, “I’m saying it to you. You were my ride or die. I was going where — wherever you were going, that’s what I was doing. I just wanted to say that, because I always felt you were going to probably do four years, and then try to figure out where to go with Kamala [Harris]. Then he just wouldn’t — he was like a bug! He just kept being there, he was like a bug right there, bzzz.”

Shortly afterward, “The View” co-host Ana Navarro thanked Biden for making various female and minority hires for his administration, saying, “You gave us Kamala Harris, the first woman vice president. You gave us Becerra, Cardona, Mayorkas, Guzman, all the people. So thank you, thank you, thank you for that!”
