“I Didn’t See That Coming”: Daily Show Personality Shocked “Black Folks Do F*ck With Trump” in Hilarious Interview

Things got very funny for former President Donald Trump and bad for the Democratic election machine during a Tuesday, July 9 segment from “The Daily Show.” During that hilarious broadcast, Daily Show correspondent Josh Johnson was shocked by the political opinions of the panel of black voters from the tri-state area, as it was evenly split between Trump and Biden.

As background, black voters, who have traditionally been a rock-solid voting block for the Democrats, have changed their views somewhat in the face of seemingly unremitting bad news from the Biden Administration. Now, a poll from the New York Times and Siena Colleg found that 26% of likely black voters support former President Trump, and 67% say America is headed in the wrong direction under Biden.

Then, in the Daily Show segment itself, three of the six voters in the segment said that they plan on voting for former President Trump, something that Mr. Johnson said he “didn’t see . . . coming.” It was particularly surprising given that about 90% of black voters voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016 and then Joe Biden in the 2020 election.

One of those involved, a voter named Darryl, said, “Do I have to say his name? I don’t want to, but more than likely it’s going to be Trump.” He continued, explaining why he’s tired of the Democrats, “For me, I’ve always been a Democrat. And it’s like, for the most part with the Democratic party, they always make a bunch of promises that they can’t deliver.”

Another voter, Erica, explained that she sees Democrats as just making promises and never fulfilling them. She said, “You know, they use the issues of the African-American community as a soapbox to stand on and make promises, you know, just to get us to come out and vote.” She continued, “And then once we vote and everyone’s in place, it’s like, well, what happened?”

Shortly afterward, another polled voter said she doesn’t know why half of those polled were supporting Trump. She exclaimed, “I wish I knew. I am not a huge fan of Trump. He don’t respect the black person.” Responding, Eric said, “And Biden does? Has Biden issued an apology for the things that he’s been caught saying?”

Johnson, for another poll of the guests, played a clip of Trump talking and asked the voters to either show their support or disdain for it. In the video played, Trump said, “Black conservatives understand better than most that some of the greatest evils in our nation’s history have come from corrupt systems that try to target and subjugate others. You understand that. I think that’s why the Black people are so much on my side now because they see what’s happened to me happens to them.”

After watching the clip, the votes were the same as before, three to three. One of those polled, Cameron, a pro-Biden voter, said, “It’s not one side. It’s the legal system. No matter who you are, if you do these things, you get charged for it. That’s it.” Johnson, for his part, said, “I definitely did not sit down with this panel to change any minds and I clearly have not.”
