Hunter’s tomcatting around is coming back to bite him, this time not from humiliation caused by his illegitimate daughter in Arkansas but rather from his ex-wife publishing damaging information about him an a tell-all memoir called “If We Break.”
That ex-wife, Buhle, married Hunter in 1993 and divorced him in April of 2017. That came shortly after Hunter announced he was in a relationship with Hallie Biden, his brother’s widow. He’s currently married to South African filmmaker Melissa Cohen.
According to Buhle in a 2017 legal filing, Hunter spent his money on drugs, alcohol, prostitutes, and strip clubs. Much of that activity could be seen in disturbing photos on Hunter’s laptop. Buhle uses the stories of Hunter’s addictions to narcotics and prostitutes to show the heavy toll addiction can take on relationships.
But there’s more than that. Kathleen also revealed that money hit Hunter’s bank account from a deal in Romania. Her divorce lawyers then sunk in their hooks to discuss how it should be split as they got divorced. That is important because Rep. James Comer recently alleged that Hunter had received about $1 million from Romania, so a fight between divorce lawyers over money from Romania is evidence of that.
One email, for example, says, “On the disclosures, help me understand why it is taking so long to get this basic information. Hunter’s office confirmed to Kathleen a deposit of more than $120,000 into Hunter’s TD account, as funds from the “Romania deal.” There is no reason to continue to delay providing us the TD account statements and all expenses since the end of the last statement. If there is a reasonable explanation for why those funds are not being used to pay the family’s pressing expenses that reason should be shared with us immediately. Otherwise, please immediately provide Kathleen with half of this deposit.”
Continuing, the lawyer, Rebekah Sullivan, said, “We agree with you that the parties are in a very precarious financial situation: they owe $200,000 in taxes, they owe Kathleen’s parents $100,000 (which has not been paid in two years), the credit cards are maxed out, Hunter maxed out a Bank of America cash advance, and their bills are not being paid. And yet, Hunter has been enjoying time in California with Hallie? It is more than fair to ask for Hunter immediately to provide Kathleen with half of the $120,000, and immediate disclosure with respect to his TD account.”
Buhle’s revelation about the Romania deal situation is important because House Republicans are currently investigating Hunter’s relationship with Romanian tycoon Gabriel “Puiu” Popoviciu. Popoviciu was facing criminal charges related to corruption and bribery at the time, for which he was later convicted. He reportedly hired Hunter Biden in 2016 to advise him in the case.
At the same time Hunter was working for the corrupt tycoon, then-VP Joe Biden was calling for the Romanians to crack down on corruption, even meeting with the Romanian president and discussing the issue. So, the point in hiring Hunter might have been to get his dad to back off or pull strings in his favor.
