Tara-Leigh Cobble is on top of the podcast world after seeing her hit show “The Bible Recap” reach the number one spot on Apple’s Podcast Chart. The Christian show has reached millions of listeners as it approaches its fifth birthday, and Cobble took some time to talk about her success and the change that she hopes to have in America.
Speaking to Fox News Digital, Cobble offered some insight into her mindset when starting the show. She never thought that it could be the top podcast in the world when she was just starting out. To her, it even seemed a stretch to think that it could be the top Christian Podcast.
She said, “I just couldn’t believe it. I was so grateful. Never would have imagined it. Because my prayer five years ago was that 300 people would listen. Never did I imagine the No. 1 spot in Christian podcasts, much less all podcasts. It’s one of those things, when we talk about God, who does exceedingly more than all we can ask or think or imagine, that verse comes to mind.”
While Cobble started out on her now, she is now aided by an entire team that works with her on the show. She had written book and added in other material for Bible Study outside of the podcast. In many ways, she has opened the door to the Christian Faith to millions of people. Her 331 million downloads are an indication of such feats.
She continued, “I started this project because I had spent much of my life trying and failing at reading through the Bible. And the one time that I finally succeeded, it was because a pastor friend who had read through the Bible several times offered to answer my questions along the way.”
So, with that goal in mind, Cobble began the podcast and never looked back. While she never expected to become the top podcast in the world, she certainly never worked like her goals were anything other than becoming the best at what she does.
When asked how to get past parts of scripture that are hard to understand, she explained, “Embrace uncertainty. There are going to be questions that you ask in Leviticus that aren’t answered until Hebrews. You can’t give up when you don’t have answers. You can’t give up when you have frustrations about things. This is a relationship. God is not necessarily here to answer all our questions. He’s here to reveal who He is. So hold on to your questions and understand that some of them might never get answered on this side of eternity, and some of them might get partially answered this month.”
Lastly, she ended the interview with an important message. She told readers that the most important step in creating a successful podcast is starting. She explained that things would inevitably go wrong and mistakes would be made, but those errors and strokes of bad luck are what make the podcast great as the show, and its members grow through them and become stronger and more informed as a result.
