The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol are conducting a joint investigation into the incident that occurred near the intersection of Mills Avenue and Telegraph Road in the city Whittier, involving recruits from Sheriff’s Academy Class #464 and a civilian motorist.
At this time, several recruits still remain in critical condition and several recruits suffered non-life-threatening injuries. We are hoping for all involved to have a full and speedy recovery.

The incident in Los Angeles is just the latest car attack on innocents. Darryl Brooks, the infamous Waukesha Christmas parade murdered, was just sentened to six consecutive life sentences for his role in intentionally driving through a holiday parade last December. His actions resulted in scores of injuries and several deaths, including those of young children and elderly grandparents who were dancing in the street and struck by his car. It took the jury just three hours to reach its decision.
Ahead of sentencing, victims and those impacted by Brooks were allowed to read statements. Among the, some of the victims said:
“I hope as I read my statement, you continue to roll your eyes. I hope you continue to laugh and just show how bored and unmoved you are by all of this all of this, because I think that’s important,” he told the court. “It’s important for the world to see that evil can be a tangible, living, breathing thing.”
“I hope you rot in hell, have a miserable existence in prison and that someone teaches you a true lesson in asking for forgiveness.”
