In one of the hilarious moments on CNN’s election night coverage, extending as it did into the wee hours of the morning on Wednesday, November 6, CNN host Jake Tapper had an absolutely hilarious reaction to the fact that Vice President and 2024 Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris failed to outperform President Joe Biden’s 2020 record in a single state.
Such came when Tapper asked CNN chief national correspondent John King for details on the election data as it rolled in an pointed to a substantial victory for former President and 2024 Republican presidential candidate, now president-elect, Donald Trump. King had no good news for Tapper.
Particularly, when asked if there are any places in America where Harris outperformed Biden compared to 2020, King told Tapper, “You asked are there any places that the vice president is overperforming Joe Biden in 2020, so we can show you that as well. We just bring that out here. Harris overperforming 2020.”
Flipping to a different slide, King showed that there are no states in America where Harris managed to outperform President Biden’s 2020 record by 3% or more. Quite evidently shocked by the data, Tapper exclaimed “Holy smokes!” Still shocked, he added, “Literally nothing?”
“Literally nothing,” King told him. Tapper couldn’t believe it and questioned King on the same detail again, asking, “Literally not one county?” King then flipped to the county view, which showed Vice President Harris outperforming President Biden by 3% or more in a measly 58 counties.
King contrasted the few dozen counties Harris did better than Biden in with the thousands in which former President Trump did better, saying, “So in counties, in 58 counties. We just showed Donald Trump was over a thousand counties of the 4,600 counties and townships across America.”
King added that there’s the possibility the West Coast might help Kamala, but no swing state holds good news for her. He said, “There might be more out here on the West Coast, possibly one or two more as they finish the count here, but in the states that matter – again, I just showed you all those Trump counties – in one county in battleground Pennsylvania, she’s outperforming President Biden by 3% or more.”

Commenting on the CNN clip in which Tapper’s jaw hit the floor and King had to admit there isn’t anywhere important where Kamala did better, one person on X (formerly Twitter) joked, “They should have played the cricket noise in the background when they showed that graphic.”
Another commenter noted that Harris is by far the worst candidate the Democrats have tried to get elected in a long, long time, writing that even the entirety of the media complex couldn’t save her. That commenter said, “Worst candidate in many decades, by a long shot. Had the entire media complex trying to help her and still failed miserably.”
Yet another commenter noted that pretty much everything from the MSM about this election was a lie, writing, “The polls were not accurate and MSM was not truthful she never stood a chance. I would say the number one reason why critical thinking people would not vote for her is she did nothing as VP and second she came off as incompetent. Not to mention people are sick of inflation and being told men are women. Honestly the last one is just stupid.”
