Hollywood residents have recently voiced their frustration toward pop star Taylor Swift after a massive disruption she caused for a photoshoot. The singer was set to engage in a promo shoot this week near the iconic Hollywood sign ahead of her eagerly awaited premiere on Disney+.
According to reports, the on-scene production for the shoot was quite demanding, much to the dismay of residents near the Griffith Park landmark. TMZ reported that the massive presence from the production crew was creating a hassle for those who live in the area, ultimately “disturbing their peace and way of life.”
A FilmLA filming permit detailed the operation that would unfold at the location, with preparation beginning on Tuesday, the shoot taking place on Wednesday, and finally, the disassembly of the production on Thursday. The permit further described drone activity that would capture aerial photography along with seemingly complicated parking instructions.
However, following the intense residential backlash, Philip Sokoloski of FilmLA informed TMZ that the event had been canceled before the scheduled shoot on Wednesday. Disney+ further confirmed that Taylor Swift would not be present or performing during the Wednesday shoot.
Taylor Swift has recently dominated headlines with her wildly successful Eras tour comprising over 150 shows spanning five different continents. It was recently reported late last year that the tour raked in over $1 billion in earnings from more than 4 million ticket sales for 60 tour dates. This feat made the landmark ERAS Tour the number-one Tour in North America.
Furthermore, Swift recently overtook Elvis Presley as the solo artist with the most weeks at the number-one spot on the Billboard 200 chart. Moreover, the pop star also tied the critically acclaimed rapper Drake for the most Billboard Music Awards of all time.
“Well, this is unreal. The fact that you guys have given me 10 Billboard Awards — I’m talking to the fans, specifically. None of this happens without you.The Billboards base everything off of what you are listening to and what you’re passionate about, and I’m so honored that this year you made the tour, The Eras Tour, so magical. You went and saw the movie, you cared about my re-recordings. I just, like, I love you so much,” she said in a recorded speech during the award show.
Despite all of the headlines praising Taylor Swift, being one of the biggest pop stars on the planet can bring its fair share of criticism. The American Tribune reported on comments from Christian singer Shane Lynch, who accused Swift of “demonic” rituals at her concerts.
“You’ll see a lot of hoods up and masks on and fire ceremonies. Even down to Taylor Swift — one of the biggest artists in the world — you watch one of her shows and she has two or three different demonic rituals to do with the pentagrams on the ground, to do with all sorts of stuff on her stage. … But to a lot of people it’s just art and that’s how people are seeing it, unfortunately,” Shane Lynch said, detailing the alleged details of the entertainment industry.
