Gov. Kathy Hochul, a democrat from New York, has been freaking out after Donald Trump got rid of New York City’s congestion pricing. Under this plan, tolls would run from less than a dollar to over $35 depending on the congestion. In response, the Governor went on MSNBC’s Morning Joe to discuss her feelings. A screenshot from the interview went viral on social media, and many online commenters mocked the Governor’s absurd money grab.
“I also know there’s a lot of people in the city who are very concerned about the influence of the Trump administration in our city. They’re trying very hard to have control over everything, not just immigration, but even how I control the traffic in New York,” she began. “So this is a concern. Notable outrage. People are very concerned about this, worried.”
” I was just trying to create some safeguards, and people can drive dial down the temperature a little bit, and just like I had to do last fall, calm it down and just let people know that we’re fighting for them, working for them, and not all this trauma that seems to be just so prevalent all the time,” Hochul complained. “New Yorkers are just getting exhausted.”
She is worried that he city will face budget issues if the extortionate congestion pricing is successfully banned. “We have spent over a billion dollars on public safety, much of it for New York City. You know what we’re doing right now,” she explained. ” I was told that we should have more police officers on the overnight trains… But I know that if this city is paralyzed with fear … then all of a sudden it starts to suppress the vitality of the city, and people don’t want to come here.”
She took aim at President Trump directly. “You’re telling me as a state, I can’t control my own traffic, that I have to go to them for approval to control traffic in New York City and deal with a paralyzing congestion problem that we’re trying to solve after decades of people talking about it, finally got it done,” she ranted. “And guess what? It is working.”
“… I want New Jersey residents to come here…. 90% of you take public transit, which is why I need to keep this money coming to invest it. The vast majority of [people] are taking public transit, but if you’re driving, I just gave you the gift of time,” Hochul added. ” Yes, I’m sorry, there’s a cost to it, but that’s what the concept of congestion pricing is all about. This city is in a different place than it was before congestive pric[ing].”
“I need to continue proving this to the President…It has had a profound impact on the lives of New York, which we have to fight to keep it going, and that’s why I’m taking it to the courts, and I’ll take it wherever I can,” she concluded. ” And they’re telling us we have to have an orderly cessation by the end of March, I’m saying I’m going to have to have a quarterly resistance. We are not turning off the cameras.”

In a viral post to X, Nick Sotor, laid into the Democratic Governor. “Gov. Kathy Hochul is throwing a FIT that President Trump just axed New York’s congestion pricing, saying it will result in budgetary issues. How about cancelling the $12 BILLION you’re spending on illegals if you’re worried about the budget, Kathy?” he posted. ” That’d be a fantastic start!”
