Writing in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that challenged President Biden’s attempt to anoint Vice President Kamala Harris as his 2024 successor after dropping out of the 2024 presidential race on Sunday, July 21, independent 2024 presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. called out President Joe Biden .
Beginning the post. RFK Jr. wrote that he commends Biden for stepping down given how obvious his mental deterioration was, saying, “I commend President Biden for stepping down. His infirmities were evident to any unbiased observer from the beginning. It was this progressive deterioration — and his abandonment of Democratic Party principles — that prompted me to enter the race and ensure American voters had a viable, vigorous alternative to Donald Trump.”
Continuing, he sounded off on the Democratic Party for trying to, in his view, “hide” the true state of President Biden’s mental cognition, saying, “Yet the response of the DNC was to try and hide President Biden’s degeneration from the American public and disable democracy to ram him through to his party’s nomination.”
He also noted that many in America fear what the Democratic Pary will do with the nomination process for the 2024 election now that he is dropping out, saying, “Many Americans fear that the same DNC elites are about to rig the nominating process again to get a monumentally unpopular vice president to step into President Biden’s shoes.”
Getting to his criticism of the party elites for trying to anoint a successor to Biden, by which he appears to have meant Biden-supported Kamala Harris, saying, “I call on the Democratic Party to return to its traditional commitment to democracy and exemplify it with an open process. Instead of anointing a candidate hand-picked by DNC elites, the party should use neutral polling to identify the candidate who can best beat Donald Trump.”
Concluding, RFK Jr. said that were the party to try to choose the best candidate from the start, he wouldn’t have had to run as an independent, saying, “The delegates should then select a nominee based on this information. If they had done this to begin with, I would not have had to leave the Democratic Party.”
In another post, RFK Jr. responded to a post showing that he would likely beat former President Donald Trump in a head-to-head competition in the 2024 election, saying that the Democratic Party would support him if they wanted to win and support their core values. He said, “If the Democrats REALLY want to keep President Trump out of office…. But that would only happen if they returned to their core values.”
Similarly, in another post on the matter that responded to a post about his candidacy, RFK Jr, called on people to vote their conscience rather than voting for someone they think would win but not be ideal as a president. He said, making that call to principled voting action, “If everyone in our country voted their conscience, voted for the best candidate rather than the one they thought could win, then the best candidate would win.”
