“Hillbilly Elegy” Star Speaks Out Against JD Vance Over “Childless Cat Lady” Comment

Recently, Glenn Close, a star in the film adaptation of JD Vance’s bestseller book “Hillbilly Elegy,” has spoken out against the vice presidential candidate.  Close addressed a comment Vance made years ago, which has resurfaced and sparked a backlash from those on the left after the Ohio senator was chosen as former President Donald Trump’s running mate.

Close, who played Vance’s mamaw in the adaptation” took to Instagram where she blasted Vance’s past comment on “childless cat ladies” running the country.“Eve would have left a bleeding mouse head in the bed of anyone who criticized any kind of lady with a CAT!” she wrote on the platform.  For context, Vance claimed several years ago that the Democratic Party was being governed by single, “miserable” women.

“We are effectively run in this country … by a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made, and so they wanna make the rest of the country miserable, too,” Vance said in 2021. “It’s just a basic fact. You look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, AOC (Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez), the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children.”

Ever since Vance was tapped to become Trump’s running mate, he has been the victim of vicious attacks from the left.  The American Tribune recently reported on slanderous comments made about this wife.  Vance said, “Well, and Donald Trump doesn’t know anything about and frankly doesn’t care for. But, yes, look, my – my attitude to these people attacking my wife is—she’s beautiful, she’s smart. What kind of man marries Usha? A very smart man and a very lucky man, importantly.”

Vance conceded that criticism of his policies is acceptable, but people should refrain from attacking his wife. He continued telling the detractors that his wife was “out of your league.” “And – and my view is, look, if these guys want to attack me or attack my views, my policy views, my personality, come after me, but don’t attack my wife. She’s out of your league,” he said.

Vance added, “I’m not at all worried about Donald Trump. I’m worried sometimes about these ridiculous attacks. But again, this is what you sign up for when you come into politics. I wish people would keep it focused on me. But, whatever. They’re going to say what they’re going to stay. My wife’s tough enough to handle it and that’s a good thing.”

Vance also addressed the commonly touted Democratic claim that he is “weird.”  He downplayed the criticism as a baseless attack as the left seeking to demonize the Make America Great Again platform that has very normal goals that represent the interests of average Americans.  Vance illustrated that they have to attack the Trump campaign on something.

“They’re going to attack us on something. They’re going to criticize. Going to criticize us on something. I think that what makes Donald Trump and I good candidates and a good team is that we’re normal guys who want to make this country great again, and we want Americans to be able to live the American dream,” the vice presidential candidate claimed.
