The judges on “American Idol” called out one contestant for boldly sharing her Christian faith with the world, praising her for her willingness to share her faith by singing about it for a massive audience.
That contestant is Megan Danielle, a 21-year-old waitress from Georgia. She made it into the top ranks of the show’s contestants, being one of the top eight finalists in the Monday night competition. She sang “Go Rest High on That Mountain” for her performance in what was an homage to her grandfather and a statement of her Christian faith.
Praising her, judge and country superstar Luke Bryan said, “What I love about you— I mean, we’re way beyond loving your voice, is you’re—you know you’re never scared to tell everybody your faith.” He added that the song was a perfect choice for her, saying, “I just felt in my heart that I couldn’t pick a better one.”
Similarly, judge Lionel Richie said, “You have the amazing ability to touch…Your voice is so powerful when it comes down to just telling your story. I know your papa is very very happy with what you did today.”
Katy Perry joined her fellow judge’s in praising Danielle’s performance, saying, “I don’t believe in any coincidences. We couldn’t have known any of that. So I just think that was heaven sent.”

And it’s not just on “American Idol” that Danielle has shared her faith. Posting about it on Instagram, using her newfound fame to lead people toward Jesus and eternal salvation, she said, “I was born to share the love of Jesus. Even though I fail everyday, I sin and I’m not perfect… I would never claim or want to be perfect.
I know it is so easy to get trapped into what the world wants of you and lose focus of His word because of what the world wants… but I am here to tell you, it is all going to be okay. God loves us & WE need to share more of Him! 🤍🙌🏻 Let me know how I can be helpful and pray for you! 👇🏻❤️”
In another post, she said, “My favorite thing ever to do: WORSHIP JESUS! 🤍🙌🏻” Included was a video of her singing a Gospel song. Commenting on that post, one person said, “Literally so stinkin’ cool that you’re using your faith in Jesus and bringing it to the big stage where you can reach the broken 🥹 so proud of you girl!”
Similarly, in another worship post, she said, “I strongly believe my favorite part about worship is not only that God is moving through me, it’s that I get to witness Him moving through the people before me and that is why I do what I do. ❤️ I’m so beyond grateful.”
