An 11-year-old boy in Waynesville, Ohio died unexpectedly last Friday, according to an obituary published in a local paper.
That boy is Wade Ryan Boswell, who was in the fifth grade at Waynesville Elementary School at the time of his death. He died as a result of an accident at home, with an incident report from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office saying that a parent called police to report a missing child at around 6:15 p.m. on Friday. A parent of the boy found his iPad unattended in the driveway, and he was last seen by a drain near a local pond, again according to the report.
Boswell was later found and pulled from the water. He was then takin to the hospital, Dayton Children’s South Campus, but was sadly pronounced dead at the hospital. The local Coroner’s Office has not determined the cause or the manner of the young boy’s death, which remains under investigation by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.
Boswell’s obituary says:
BOSWELL, Wade Ryan, age 11, of Waynesville, passed away Friday, March 3, 2023.
Bubbly, sweet, empathetic, and always happy, Wade was often goofy and enjoyed clowning around with friends and family. He was highly compassionate toward his family and never hesitated to express his love for them. Wade was a 5th-grade student at Wayne Local Schools in Waynesville, where he was well-liked and a friend to all. Over the past several years, he greatly enjoyed playing basketball, baseball, and his favorite sport, soccer. He loved playing outside and was especially fond of swinging on the playground equipment. Wade also liked playing video games on his Xbox, Pokemon, Hot Wheels, and Legos. His favorite extracurricular was fishing with his dad. Selfless when it came to his family, he loved spending time with them and cherished the relationships with each family member. He had a special relationship with his sister, who he loved.
His family’s tradition was to travel to Destin, Florida, for the classic beach vacations. So, of course, Wade would often be found sitting on the beach with a fishing pole in the water. Being the baby of the family on both sides of his family, he was often the center of attention during the Christmas holidays. In particular, the Christmas cookies were his favorites, and that’s often where his selflessness toward his family took a back seat and he ensured he got his share of the cookies and more. Among many things, he will be remembered for his love of monkeys, lizards, and toy skeletons during Halloween, his beloved dog, Captain, and his sweet smile, which he always seemed to display.
He is survived by his parents, Ryan Boswell and Nicole Boswell; his sister, Samantha Boswell; and grandparents, Susan and Mark Valiante and Don and Judy Boswell.
The family will receive friends 4 – 7 PM Wednesday, March 8, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. A celebration of life service will be held immediately following the visitation at 7 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home. Celebrant Brian Bennett will be leading the service.
In lieu of flowers and in recognition of Wade’s love of swinging on the swings at school, contributions in his memory are encouraged to be made to the Wayne Local Schools Playground Project, 625 Dayton Rd., Waynesville, OH 45068.
