“He Is a Disgrace,” “Left Town Empty Handed!”: Trump Takes Terrific Parting Shots at Jack Smith

Firing a parting shot at his former Department of Justice nemesis, former Special Counsel Jack Smith, President-elect Donald Trump took no punches in roasting Smith over the coals, gloating that Smith had managed nothing at all other than wasting government money and engaging in “political prosecution.”

Such is what the president-elect posted on Truth Social after news broke that former Special Counsel Jack Smtih had resigned from the DOJ, something he and the DOJ had indicated would happen ahead of time but which took until now to occur. Smith had to drop both of his cases against Trump after Trump won the November 5 election.

Hammering Smith, commenting on the immense cost of his investigation, and noting the huge human toll of the whole political persecution matter, Trump said, “The Stench of Deranged Jack Smith and his thugs is GONE. They were sent packing after spending over $100,000,000, destroying the lives of many people and families, who will never be the same again. Deranged Jack accomplished nothing, except to show what complete losers my political opponents are!!!”

In a second post, gloating over the fact that Jack Smith was gone from the DOJ and no longer able to conduct the investigation, which he referred to as a “Witch Hunt,” the president-elect said, “Deranged Jack Smith was fired today by the DOJ. He is a disgrace to himself, his family, and his Country. After spending over $100,000,000 on the Witch Hunt against TRUMP, he left town empty handed!”

Though Smith can’t continue with his investigation, it appears that he will be able to issue a report on what he thinks happened and what he found. Commenting on that in a letter, Attorney General Merrick Garland said, “As I have made clear regarding every Special Counsel who has served since I took office, I am committed to making as much of the Special Counsel’s report public as possible, consistent with legal requirements and Department policy,”

Trump was, predictably, as furious with that as happy that the lawfare cases brought by Smith are finally over. Sounding off on the idea that former Special Counsel Smith would be issuing a report, he said, “Why would Deranged Jack Smith be allowed to issue a “report” on a complete and total Witch Hunt against me, strictly for political purposes, when he was thrown off the case and ultimately dismissed by the DOJ.”

Continuing, Trump went on to hammer the whole investigation brought by Smith as “political persecution” and the money spent on it “wasted,” saying, “Therefore, to put it nicely, he was illegitimately involved in this political persecution, and all of the hundreds of millions of dollars spent by our hapless government were, simply put, wasted!”

Concluding that furious post, the president-elect commented on the utterly huge scale of the matter as presented by Jack Smith and argued a report is unnecessary, as shown by that scale and the public’s evident opinion. He said, “He has already filled thousands of rejected statements and documents against me, which were a “joke,” and the public just voted for me, in a landslide, to be their President!”
