Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) has faced increasing calls from Republicans to be held accountable for alleged crimes he committed while pushing for President Donald Trump’s impeachment during his first term. Schiff has been accused of fabricating a “fake version” of Trump’s phone call with Ukraine to make his conduct appear incriminating.
Conservative commentator Bill Mitchell sparked the conversation by sharing a clip of Schiff allegedly reading off a “fake version” of Trump’s Ukraine phone call, calling for the senator to be imprisoned for the act.”ADAM SCHIFF fabricated a fake version of PRESIDENT TRUMP’s Ukraine call and read it during impeachment. He belongs in jail, not the Senate,” Mitchell wrote on X.
The past clip featured Schiff rhetorically asking, “And what is the President’s response?” before disparaging Trump. “Well, it reads like a classic organized crime Shakedown, shorn of its rambling character and in not so many words, this is the essence of what the President communicates,” Schiff said.
Supposedly quoting Trump, he continued, “‘We’ve been very good to your country. Very good. No other country has done as much as we have. But you know what? I don’t see much reciprocity here. I hear what you want. I have a favor I want from you, though, and I’m going to say this only seven times, so you better listen good.'”
The California Democrat said, “I want you to make up dirt on my political opponent. Understand lots of it, on this and on that. I’m going to put you in touch with people, and not just any people. I’m going to put you in touch with Attorney General the United States, my attorney general, Bill Barr. He’s got the whole weight of the American law enforcement behind him, and I’m going to put you in touch with Rudy. You’re going to love him.”
“Trust me, you know what I’m asking. And so I’m only going to say this a few more times in a few more ways. And by the way, don’t call me again. I’ll call you when you’ve done what I asked. This is in some in character, what the President was trying to communicate,” Schiff further stated.
The Tribune also reported on Kash Patel claimed sounding off on Schiff, calling for legal repercussions. “Adam Schiff is the worst criminal in Congress in the last 250 years. Adam Schiff went to the podium day after day after day saying, I know nothing about this,” the FBI director said. “We’re not going to discuss it. We’re going to protect it. And then he, Adam Schiff, led the prosecution of the impeachment trial in the Senate of President Donald Trump.”

Patel further called out Schiff for the alleged fabrication of the accusations against the president. “Talk about someone who was conflicted out of the game because he was part of the hoax that brought Ciarmella in, manufactured that false accusation, and then peddled it out to the world,” he said. “You know, not surprising, he’s lied about almost everything in his life, but now he lied just to set up a presidential impeachment. That’s what I was talking about, these disinformation campaigns.”
Patel maintained that Schiff should be investigated for the past incidents during Trump’s first presidency. “He should be investigated. Because he lied to the world about his interactions with Ciarmella who is a whistleblower and I can’t stress it enough that started a presidential impeachment,” he said.
