In a heartwarming display, boxer Christy Martin fiercely defended Sydney Sweeney against attacks from bitter actress Ruby Rose, who called her a “cretin” and blamed her for the flop of the biopic Christy, while baselessly accusing Sweeney of anti-LBGTQ hate and white supremacy.

In an Instagram post, Martin hailed Sweeney as a dedicated friend and ally who poured her heart into portraying Martin’s story, fighting for silent sufferers. In another series of posts, a fan page echoed this sentiment, lamenting divisive online comments, boycotting the film, and fake news fueling rivalry.

In any case, taking to social media on November 12, 2025, Martin said, “I’ve always been a fighter. My life reflected that in every way and now I fight for others.” Building on this point, she noted, “The past few days I have seen some people attack my friend Sydney Sweeney.”

Continuing her comments, the boxer kept up her defence of the A-lister. “Syd not only worked her ass off for this film, she worked her ass off for me. For my story. For so many others suffering in silence So I want to be clear about who Syd is. She is my friend and ally!” she noted.

Building on her comments, she collaborated with the fan account, @lovesydsweeney, on Instagram to get her story out. “Many people are commenting: ‘Christy, I’m sorry they disappointed you’ or ‘Christy, I’m not going to watch the movie because that actress doesn’t represent you.'” the boxer explained.

Describing the discncet between reality and the internet, Martin noted, “It’s sad to see these kinds of comments when, in reality, Christy has a beautiful friendship with Sydney since the beginning of the project, and it’s noticeable how happy and proud she is of Sydney’s work.”

Martin also noted Sweenys dedication to the project. “She was present during filming, helping and supporting Sydney in everything. Sydney dedicated herself to this project for months, changing her body and mind, and delivered a brilliant performance praised by everyone who watched it,” she said.

Concluding her message, she said, “The same Sydney who, since the beginning of her career, has played characters that represent the community, but is always judged based on fake news online.”

Concluding her comments, the boxer said, “It’s sad to see that a film with such a beautiful and inspiring story is being used to create a female rivalry between two of the best, most beautiful, strong, and talented women,” adding, “Anyway, watch Christy in theaters and appreciate this incredible work done with so much love and dedication.”

Speaking on her own behalf, the well endowed actress noted, “I am so deeply proud of this movie. Proud of the film David made. Proud of the story we told. Proud to represent someone as strong and resilient as Christy Martin.”

Wrapping up her post, the bombshell wrote, “If Christy gave even one woman the courage to take her first step toward safety, then we will have succeeded. So yes I’m proud. Why? Because we don’t always just make art for numbers, we make it for impact. And Christy has been the most impactful project of my life. Thank you Christy. I love you.”
