An agent with Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Louisiana was bitten on the hand by an illegal immigrant who was resisting arrest, according to new information released by the Department of Homeland Security. DHS, which called the incident a “gross attack” revealed the incident occurred in the town of Tullos, located in a central part of the state.
Officials put out a photograph showing the ICE agent’s bloody hand following the attack by Maximiliano Perez-Perez. “During the arrest, Perez-Perez attempted to flee by pushing officers. He used his teeth as a weapon and clamped down on an ICE officer’s hand, breaking the skin and drawing blood,” DHS stated.
“This criminal illegal alien is being charged with assault after he savagely bit a law enforcement officer in an attempt to evade arrest. DHS law enforcement is facing a 1,150% increase in assaults against them and an 8,000% increase in death threats,” DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in the statement.
According to Fox News, McLaughlin then said, “This is the reality of what our ICE officers are facing every day as they go to work to simply do their job and enforce the law. Many of these assaults, including biting and vehicle rammings, are happening as a direct result of sanctuary politicians encouraging illegal aliens to evade arrest.”
DHS says the date and time in which Perez-Perez entered the U.S. is not currently known. The agency also noted that the illegal immigrant was not inspected or paroled by an immigration officer. On the same day of the incident, ICE released a photo showing a suspect who is accused of threatening federal agents being arrested by an agent from Homeland Security Investigations.
The photo was posted along with a caption from DHS that said, “Threatening to assault, murder or interfere with a federal agent is a FELONY.” ICE stated in a post on X, “Logan Murfin of Tulsa, OK, has been charged with ten counts after posting on social media that federal agents need to be gunned down, shot & executed.” “Welcome to the find out stage, Logan,” the post concluded.
A published statement from DHS revealed that law enforcement officers are now facing a 1,150% increase in violence against them. The statement then called on protesters, sanctuary politicians, and the mainstream media to stop calling for violence and resistance against ICE agents, saying they need to “turn the temperature down.”

The statement then lists several examples of what they believe has contributed to this horrific rise in violent resistance. In February 2025, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) hosted a webinar that gave illegal immigrants tips for evading arrests while at home, workplaces, or in public.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass published flyers in multiple languages, along with online resources, advising illegals on how to avoid being arrested by ICE agents. California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, produced a series of guides and sanctuary laws that provided advice for those who crossed into the country illegally, featuring information on how to recognize ICE, block their entry, and resist arrest.
