“Grab Some Popcorn”: AOC Gets Roasted Online after She Gets Shouted Down by Mob of Furious Constituents, Lights Shut Off in Absurd Town Hall Moment [WATCH]

One of the worst public moments for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) to take place was back in 2022, when, during a town hall she gave in her home district in New York City, she was shouted down by an angry mob of constituents that were furious with her political stances, and the lights shut off, adding to the chaos and absurdity of the moment. That, in turn, led to some hilarious commentary on X (formerly Twitter).

As context, the humiliating public incident occurred during a town hall event at The Variety Boys & Girls Club of Queens in Astoria, which is located in AOC’s congressional district in NYC, back in 2022. Buoyed by high tensions at the time, a mob of protesters showed up and drowned out the woke congresswoman with chanted slogans like “AOC has got to go!”

Those chanting, angry protesters shouted about AOC’s policies and carried signs with slogans like “AOC IS AN OBVIOUS CRIMINAL.” When the protester carrying that particular sign confronted her, AOC was left sputtering that she “Had reduced crime by up to 50%.” She then diminished her own point by bragging about the number of psychologists hired in her district, something conservatives use to argue she and others aren’t serious about fighting crime in cities.

As the angry protesters continued chanting, event organizers for AOC then turned off the lights in the room and ushered AOC out of it as she said, “I’m not allowed to be in a room with the lights turned off.” Presumably, they ushered her out to save her further embarrassment at the hands of the protesters.

Posters on X chimed in to roast the congresswoman and the incident generally in the wake of it. Terrence Williams, for instance, posted the clip and said, captioning it, “Grab some popcorn & add extra butter. AOC was just humiliated at her own town hall meeting. It didn’t go her away and this is how she responded .”

Commenters on the post from Terrence agreed, saying things like, “She is a total embarrassment. This is what we’re electing today? We are screwed” and “I love how she has security and listens to everything they say, she “isn’t allowed on a room with the lights off” 🤔🤣😂 I can’t with this one. She tells everyone else to defund the police and to challenge them at every chance but she was quick to listen to the white guys then.” Watch the incident here:

Another commenter on the Terrence Williams post argued that AOC was showing her arrogance with the incident, saying, “Her arrogance was on full display. She has enough ppl believing her rhetoric and will keep her in office even though she has done absolutely nothing positive for them. So her dancing & talking like she did was basically a middle finger.”

On much the same note, another commenter said, “I’m not Nostradamus, but I’m sensing the tide is going out on woke liberalism and the leftist politicians who support it. Every dollar sent to DC comes back as chump change. John Locke said it: low taxes, easy regulations, reasonable enforcement. Just leave us alone to prosper.”
