Minnesota Governor and failed Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz is being mocked online after making nasty backhanded remarks about Tesla’s declining stock price during a town hall event in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, on March 19, 2025. Gov. Walz openly knocked on the company’s falling share price, admitting that checking Tesla’s stock had become his personal mood enhancer. Tesla is owned by Elon Musk, who heads DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency), an agency dedicated to eliminating government waste—something Governor Walz and his Democratic supporters strongly oppose, making Tesla an easy target for their partisan attacks.
These revolting remarks elicited laughter from the Democratic crowd but prompted criticism and hilarious roasts from Tesla investors, free-market advocates, and common-sense Republicans. Across the internet, people are reacting with frustration that a sitting governor would publicly celebrate the financial struggles of an innovative American company, particularly given its significant contributions to the economy and the livelihoods of thousands of employees. Gov. Walz’s fixation on Musk reveals misplaced priorities, reflecting a greater interest in political point-scoring rather than genuine leadership and effective governance.
As he has had trouble garnering nearly any excitement or attention for his town hall events, Gov. Walz, took it upon himself to post a clip of his jab at Musk on X, attempting to gain wider attention. In the video, Walz smugly remarked, “If you need a little boost during the day, check out Tesla stock.” Elon Musk, who has earned a reputation for swift and clever responses online, quickly fired back, and hilariously replied, “Sometimes when I need a little boost, I look at the @JDVance portrait in the @WhiteHouse and thank the Lord,” turning Walz’s attempt at humor against him.
Elon’s post got a lot of attention from hilarious users on X who joined in on roasting Gov. Walz. For example, one account posted, “Elon is bringing stranded astronauts home from space while Tim Walz travels around crying about him and celebrating the Tesla attacks. Innovation vs. Destruction. We are not the same.” This refers to Space X’s successful mission to retrieve the stranded astronauts on the International Space Station, Musk and his team brought home two astronauts abandoned in space for nine months, safely returning them to Earth on March 18th.
Another user noted that Musk employs tens of thousands of United States Citizens. He posted on X saying, “FUN FACT: Tesla employs hundreds of people in Minnesota, where Tim Walz is the governor. Imagine being one of those employees, and you see your governor cheering for you to lose your job. These people are pathetic.”
Another user commented on Musk’s commitment to DOGE and President Trump’s goal of eliminating Government waste and fraud, something that Democrats like Gov. Walz dispises. Comparing the two men, this user posted on X: “Tim Walz brags about Tesla’s stock price falling. Democrats are now rooting against one of the most successful companies in American history — an electric vehicle company! — because they’re mad @elonmusk is cutting waste and fraud. True insanity.” Here’s the clip of Governer Walz’s making a fool of himself at the town hall on March 19:

Even White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt roasted Gov. Walz for his foolish comments. When speaking to the press on March 19th, a reporter asked about the comments of Tim Walz, where she savagely replied, “I think that’s quite sad—but I think Governor Walz is living a sad existence after his devastating defeat on November 5th.“ Check out the clip of her excellent response here:
Governor Walz’s decision to openly mock a major American business and, by extension, its thousands of U.S. employees—including many in his own state of Minnesota—reflects poorly on his judgment and priorities as an elected official. Minnesotans deserve leadership focused on uniting communities and addressing genuine economic and social challenges, not a failed vice presidential candidate still chasing media attention.
