South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham recently said that Joe Biden should “pray” that he has presidential immunity over his border policies, or lack thereof, where millions of illegal immigrants have poured into the country.
Graham sat down with “Fox News Sunday,” where he called out the detrimental impacts that the rampant illegal immigration under the Biden administration has had on American society. The senator mentioned Laken Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student who was allegedly killed by an illegal immigrant in Georgia.
“Joe Biden better hope and pray there’s presidential immunity, because when he allowed the killer of Laken Riley to be released on parole because [of] lack of capacity, I think he’s subject not only to lawsuit, but criminal prosecution – if there’s not presidential immunity,” Sen. Graham said.
The discussion also addressed recent Democratic criticism of the conservative majority Supreme Court, in which President Biden was quoted as saying the nation’s highest court “has never been as out of kilter as it is today.”
However, the South Carolina Republican suggested that Democrats are attacking the Supreme Court to deflect the blame for Biden’s failures in the executive branch, particularly with the border, where estimates indicate that over 7 million illegal immigrants have crossed the border.
“The border is beyond broken. You have wars in Ukraine. You have the Mideast on fire. When it comes to enforcing the law, Joe Biden has been beyond reckless. He’s taken a parole statute that’s limited in nature and has given a million people parole,” Graham continued.
Graham further blasted the Biden administration for allowing Laken Riley’s alleged illegal alien killer, Jose Antonio Ibarra, to be released on parole in El Paso because their resources were strained from the massive influx of unlawful border crossings. The senator highlighted the crisis of murderers and rapists being set free to roam society and victimize innocent citizens. Watch the interview below:
“Laken Riley’s murderer was paroled because they had lack of capacity in El Paso. They let him out under the parole statute because they were full. There’s nothing in the statute that says you can go cause you’re full. And he killed this lady. On and on and on. All of these women who’ve been raped and murdered have one thing in common. The people that killed them, raped them and murdered them were in our custody and let go, I think, illegally,” he said.
Throughout the Biden administration, Republicans have criticized Democrats for not prioritizing the border crisis, which has allowed millions of illegal immigrants to pour into the American interior. Many Americans are particularly frustrated that Democrats are more than willing to send billions overseas to international conflicts, such as the war in Ukraine, while seemingly ignoring domestic issues.
Last month, The American Tribune reported on comments from Sen. Roger Marshall, who explained that no foreign aid should be extended to other nations until the border is sufficiently secured. “One of my jobs is to prioritize where we’re spending the money. And I’m telling you, until we secure the border, I don’t think we should be spending any money outside of this country, let alone on what I’m describing as really Ukraine’s … never-ending war,” he said.
