In some absolutely massive news out of the Republican contingent in Congress, which has so far done little to rein in rogue judges, particularly those who have essentially encouraged crime with their decisions to release repeat offenders, GOP Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL) announced a plan to introduce legislation that will target judges who release offenders who go on to commit more crimes.
As background, this legislation and calls related to it for judges to be held accountable come in the wake of a repeat offender who was released over a dozen times and went on to senselessly murder a Ukrainian refugee living in Charlotte when on a bus with her, stabbing her repeatedly in the neck for no rhyme or reason.
In the wake of the horrid video showing that unspeakably awful crime emerging and infuriating countless millions of Americans who watched it, many calls rose on X for the judges who let the repeat offender out of jail time and time again despite his obvious criminal proclivities and refusal to stop committing crimes, particularly as that state of injustice led to a heinous murder.
So, taking advantage of that groundswell of public support for holding rogue judges accountable, Rep. Fine announced on X that he would be introducing legislation that, if passed, will hold judges legally accountable for the actions of the criminals they release. Beginning that post, he said, “I’m going to introduce legislation to hold judges accountable when violent repeat offenders they release commit new crimes.”
Continuing, Rep. Fine noted that judges can live safely and securely despite their terrible decisions because they have armed protection shielding them from the consequences at all times, a luxury normal people don’t have. He said, “It’s easy to release criminals when you’re protected by an armed bailiff at all times. The rest of us aren’t so lucky.”
So, referencing the murderer who slew the Ukrainian refugee, 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska, Rep. Fine insisted that the judges who let him out of jail time after time after time should be held legally accountable and have to face court time too, saying, “Those 12+ judges that released Decarlos Brown Jr. should have their day in court too.”
Agreeing with Rep. Fine in a quote tweet of his post, Elon Musk declared the legislation is “Sorely needed!” Similarly, agreeing with Elon, a commenter on his post argued that judges and DAs should also immediately lose their jobs, and thus their power, in such situations, writing, “If a DA dismisses charges or a judge goes lenient, and the person goes onto to commit another equal or worse crime, the DA or judge should lose their job. They fear the loss of power more than anything.”

On much the same note, a commenter on Randy Fine’s post wrote, “Be sure to include that they be charged as an accomplice after the fact please. If a parent can be held responsible for the actions of their children, so to can a judge using poor judgment be held criminally responsible.”
