As the final votes are coming in for the 2024 election, the Republican Party secured another key seat in the House, further solidifying the trifecta of power President-elect Donald Trump will have at his disposal when he returns to the White House. Republican U.S. House candidate Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ) defeated Democratic challenger Kirstin Engel over a week after Election Day.
Ciscomani’s monumental victory strengthens the Republican majority in the House, which now controls 219 seats. With Trump decisively defeating Kamala Harris, Republicans flipping the Senate, and the GOP retaining a majority in the House, the GOP is well-positioned moving into 2025.
“Laura and I are deeply grateful to the people of Arizona’s 6th District, and honored by the trust they’ve placed in me to continue representing our community in Congress,” Ciscomani said following his victory. The Republican noted that Engel finally called into concede the race.“Earlier today, Kirsten Engel called to concede the race and congratulate our team on winning a second term.”
Ciscomani noted that there is much work to do in order to get America back on track, addressing the key issues that defined the election, namely illegal immigration and the economy. The Arizona Republican also spoke about regional issues impacting his constituents, vowing to fix issues with their waters supply.
“Now, it is time to get to work. Our country is facing big challenges and I am ready to continue tackling these issues head-on. Our top priorities — securing our border, lowering costs, and ensuring that our veterans and seniors are protected and valued – are essential to the strength and stability of our district and country. Strengthening our water infrastructure is vital to Arizona’s future, and I’ll work tirelessly to ensure that our resources support growth and opportunity for future generations,” he said.
As Trump is set to have substantial political capital moving into his second administration, The American Tribune reported on Trump unveiling a 10-point plan to “shatter” the deep state. Beginning, Trump said, “First, I will immediately reissue my 2020 Executive Order, restoring the President’s authority to remove rogue bureaucrats, and I will wield that power very aggressively.”
Continuing, Trump promised to clear out corruption within the security and intelligence community. “Second, we will clean out all of the corrupt actors in our national security and intelligence apparatus, and there are plenty of them. The departments and agencies that have been weaponized will be completely overhauled so that faceless bureaucrats will never again be able to target and persecute conservatives, Christians or the left’s political enemies, which they’re doing now at a level that nobody can believe even possible.”
Addressing the FISA courts, Trump continued, “Third, we will totally reform FISA courts, which are so corrupt that the judges seemingly do not care when they are lied to in warrant applications. So many judges have seen so many applications that they know were wrong, or at least they must have known they do nothing about it. They’re lied to.”
Trump called out censorship and spying conducted against American citizens, stating, “Fourth to expose the hoaxes and abuses of power that have been tearing our country apart, we will establish a Truth and Reconciliation Commission commission to declassify and publish all documents on Deep State spying, censorship and corruption, and there are plenty of them.”
