A golf writer has quit working for his news outlet after his editor forced him to remove pro-Christian and pro-Life views from a recent article. Steve Eubanks, formerly a writer for Global Golf Post, was asked to remove those anti-woke views from an article about professional LPGA star Amy Olson.
Eubanks said that the editors “went ballistic,” according to a quote obtained by Breitbart News in which the disgruntled writer explained the reason for his separation from Global Golf Post. Eubanks quit upon hearing the deans, as he was morally against keeping that part of the interview out of the article to assuage the political leanings of his woke editor.
Amy Olson caught the attention of the media at the Women’s US Open in July when she played while seven months pregnant at the time. Onlookers and fellow competitors were impressed that she was able to continue to compete at such an elite level while carrying a child at the same time.
The Blaze obtained the unpublished version of the article, which shows the quotes that forced Eubanks to edit the article or resign. Olson was asked about the recent increase in popularity and attention that she has received since she began playing pregnant.
“I’ve been honored that people have picked up the story and been interested. I feel like everyone has been supportive. Nothing but goodwill has come toward me, and I’ve so appreciated that,” Olson began.
Olson then pointed out the outrageous hypocrisy of the left’s stance on abortion, saying, “I will say that the irony is not lost on me that, one year ago, when Roe v. Wade was overturned, I was playing in a major championship outside Washington, D.C., and women from around the world, and even on tour, were outraged. Now, a year later, people are celebrating that I’m going to be playing a major championship with an unborn child that they recognize as a life.”
This was likely the reason that the Global Golf Post’s editor was so against publishing the article. Even though it is a direct quote from the subject of one of the biggest LPGA news stories of the summer, it goes against the Left’s narrative. That means, to many on the left, that the view must be silenced.
“Even on Golf Channel, one of the hosts said that instead of 156, this year there will be 157 players in the field, recognizing that our child is a human being who will be out there with me,” she continued. “That irony is not lost on me. I celebrate that our general humanity and common sense knows why this is something special.”
At the conclusion of the interview, Eubanks asked Olson if she regretted taking this stand. She responded, “Absolutely, because, ultimately, I don’t stand before a human court. I stand before God. It’s why I do what I do and say what I say. Those around me will also have to stand before God, so if I ever say anything that is quote-unquote “offensive” I don’t do it to offend; I do it as a mission. Everyone stands before God in the end. I don’t want anyone to meet that moment unprepared.”
