Speaking in a positive and heartwarming series of comments amidst the current controversies raging in the early months of the Trump Administration, two-time U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau praised President Donald Trump as being a “great ambassador” for the sport and game of golf.
As background, Mr. DeChambeau’s comments, made on Fox & Friends on Friday, April 4, were welcome not only for MAGA and Trump supporters, but for golf fans as well, being as they are a sign of the potential that President Trump will be a welcome aid with the current controversy and talks between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf.
In any case, Mr DeChambeau told the show’s hosts that President Trump loves golf and is an ambassador for the sport, saying, “He loves golf, by the way. I think he’s such a great ambassador for the game of golf and for diplomacy, in general. It’s been fun to play some golf with him, get to know him a little bit better, and just recognize that he’s just a normal person.”
Continuing, the golf star commented on a dinner he had with the president and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and what it is like to be around the president, saying, “Man, we were with Kid Rock and [Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis] and we just had a great dinner. We didn’t talk much about politics, we just enjoyed our time together. And we’re honestly really grateful that he’s given us the golf course to play on, and super excited to be around him.”
Building on that, the golf star explained that he sees LIV Golf, a competitor to the PGA, as being another great addition to the sport, saying, “Personally, for me, there’s been nothing but positivity from this league. What we’ve been able to do across the globe is quite inspiring for the younger generation of golf.”
He added, on the topic of a potential merger that President Trump being an ambassador could aid with, “We are pushing the boundaries, for sure. I think it showed the PGA what potentials there are, and hopefully something can get done at some point and time.”

On the same Friday as Mr. DeChambeau’s comments about the value the president brings to the sport, President Trump visited one of his Florida golf courses, which set off Democrats. For example, Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) said, “He’s had a long, hard week of crashing the stock market and making virtually everything more expensive for middle-class Americans,” Duckworth said. “But at least he’s getting some time to unwind????”
Similarly, Rep. Jason Crow, another woke Democrat who used the current tariff fears to attack Trump for vising a golf course, said, “Recession fears are rising. The stock market is tanking. But don’t worry, Donald Trump is golfing.”
Pushing back on those absurd attacks in a statement, White House spokesperson Anna Kelly said, as Politico reports, “President Trump is always working on behalf of the American people, and his longstanding relationships with world leaders have led to massive investments into the U.S. economy and no new wars during his first term.”
