Recently, the mother of San Francisco 49ers rookie Ricky Pearsall gave an update on her son, who had been shot in the chest during a robbery. The incident occurred at Union Square in San Francisco during broad daylight as Pearsall was walking to his car. Erin Pearsall recently took to social media, posting that her son is in stable condition, “spared by the grace of God.”
During the robbery, Pearsall was confronted by a 17-year-old suspect who attempted to rob him while he was walking at around 3:30 p.m. by himself in San Francisco. According to officials, one shot was fired during the incident, striking Pearsall in the chest. Amazingly, the bullet entered his chest and exited his back without striking any major organs, according to Erin Pearsall.

He was shot in the chest and it exited out his back. Thanks be to GOD it missed his vital organs.” She continued, “He is in good spirits right now. Life is so precious my friends. Please love (each other). My son was spared today by the grace of GOD. Please pray for my baby.”
San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott explained that an altercation broke out between Pearsall and the suspect leading up to the gunshot. San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott. “A struggle between Mr. Pearsall and the suspect ensued, and gunfire from the suspect’s gun struck both Mr. Pearsall and the subject,” Scott said.
San Francisco Mayor London Breed said in a press conference over the weekend, “This is how we hold people accountable in San Francisco. Robberies and any violence like this will not be tolerated in our city.” The mayor added, “This was a terrible and rare incident in Union Square, and our thoughts are with Ricky Pearsall and his family. He has a bright future, and I look forward to seeing him recover and get back on the field.”
Users on social media commented on how amazing it was for Pearsall to have survived the harrowing incident. “Miraculous: Ricky Pearsall’s mother shared on Facebook that her son was shot in the chest, and the bullet exited out his back without hitting any vital organs,” one person wrote, sharing a screenshot of Erin Pearsall’s Facebook post.
“Wow he was lucky, very lucky. And he was hit on the right side of his chest judging by the video… had it been the other side we’d be talking about a very different outcome perhaps. Prayers up to that man Still have no idea how he walking to the ambulance after that…” another person wrote in the comments section, illustrating how luck the 23-year-old NFL player is.
Another user weighed in on the seemingly deteriorating state of the Golden State, writing, “Its not safe anymore in California.” Another noted the miraculous nature of Pearsall’s survival, stating, “Wow. This is an act of God. Prayers up for Ricky and fast recovery.”
