In yet another Cracker Barrel-like incident of a supposedly conservative company oddly adopting a woke agenda, Tractor Supply, a conservative-coded company that mainly provides farm and country goods to rural customers, was outed as having a woke, DEI and LGBT agenda. Commenters on a post drawing attention to the bad news vowed a boycott.
Among those who called out Tractor Supply was Jack Posobiec, the editor of Human Events and a noted conservative personality on X. He, in a tweet on June 20th that received nearly 400,000 views, called out the company for the various woke things it has done. Particularly, he called out the various DEI and LGBT things Tractor Supply does.
In the tweet calling out the apparently woke company, Posobiec said, “🚨Under CEO @hallawto, Tractor Supply promotes LGBT training, funds pride and drag events, supports sex changes, and pushes climate activism. Despite their conservative customers, they have a DEI Council, pride decorations, and LGBT events. Consider shopping elsewhere, America”
One of the photos Posobiec included was of a “Partnership Playbook” that provided, “The objective of this document is to be a resource that teaches the user when and how to begin relationships with community partners, provide information on different types of partners and events, and and give guidance for long-term partnership management. We aim for it to be a road map on how to connect with your local community and be a resource for diversity recruiting efforts that align with our DEI ESG goals set by Hal Lawton, CEO, with the support of Executive Leadership.”
Another photo included a document that provided, “We are committed to providing a diverse and inclusive culture supported by our Mission & Values, where we respectfully foster different perspectives, ideas, and innovative thinking. We know that we are stronger together, and we believe in the authenticity our Team Members bring to work every day. By focusing on our Team Members first, we know that our customers and communities will be well served. Diversity and inclusion play a key role in moving our business forward.
-TSC’s Commitment to DEI”
Commenting on Posobiec’s post, one commenter said, “I quit spending money with them when i heard that.
Southern states or agri supply from here on in. Will a boycott matter tho? IDK, a lot of apathetic normies shop there and i also saw one of my buddies truck there last week even after he made a big ole stink “IM NEVER SHOPPING THERE AGAIN”….uhuh.”
Another commenter said, “Sad. My wife’s favorite store. 30 years ago she wanted jewelry. Now that we live in the country she wants Tractor Supply gift cards. But she stopped shopping at Target years ago over trans bathrooms, now she’ll probably stop shopping at TS. Great job knowing your customers @hallawton . We spend $5k-$10k a year at your local store. No more.”
Tennessee Republican Robby Starbuck drew attention to the matter as well, writing, “I wonder how many Tractor Supply customers are aware that Tractor Supply started a political PAC under CEO Hal Lawson that gave over $50,000 to Democrat congressional campaigns for 2024? Over $85,000 went to Dems from 2022-2024. Their director of Government relations is a former Democrat aide in Congress.”
He continued, “They gave to: Jim Jeffries, Shontel Brown, Terri Sewell, Katherine Clark, John Clyburn’s PAC, Sanford Bishop, Richard Neal, Seth Moulton, Mikie Sherrill, Brad Schneider, Haley Stevens, Don Davis, Debbie Dingell, Chrissy Houlahan, Bill Keating, Scott Peters, Zoe Lofgren, Jim Costa and more. All those donations can be found on the FEC website. I bet they’re all very happy with CEO Hal Lawton since this $$$ started rolling in. I also bet they’re big fans of his DEI/ESG/Trans Pride agenda too! #BoycottTractorSupply”
Starbuck also ripped into Tractor Supply in a video posted to X. Watch him here:
He also said, in a post that garnered 2.7 million views, “It’s time to expose Tractor Supply. It’s one of the most beloved brands in 🇺🇸 by conservatives but what do they REALLY stand for under CEO @hallawton’s leadership? • LGBTQIA+ training for employees • Funding pride/drag events • They have a DEI Council • Funding sex changes • Climate change activism • Pride month decorations in the office • DEI hiring practices
• LGBTQIA+ events at work”
He continued, “Hal also liked posts attacking unvaccinated people and @AllisonW_Sports when she left ESPN over the COVID vaccine. Let’s just say those likes make it appear he’s NOT fond of people who chose to skip the vaccine. I take no pleasure in bringing this all to light. I’m a Tennessean who loves to support TN companies but as a proud Tennessean I know these woke priorities don’t align with our state or @TractorSupply’s customer base.”
He then called on people to boycott and call out the company, saying, “We must make our voices heard. Hal Lawton needs to understand that we don’t want our hard earned money spent on these woke priorities. If he supports this stuff then he should spend some of his $11M salary or tens of millions in stock on it instead of using the money we spend at Tractor Supply. The kind of sex you like is not an appropriate topic for work. Events built around the kind of sex people like to have should not have kids at them and should not be funded with the money we spend at Tractor Supply.”
