Two Senate RINOs are holding up one of his key appointments, and President Trump is done playing nice with them: posting on Truth Social, he went scorched earth on two RINOs in the Senate Judiciary Committee who are holding up his attempt to get Alinna Habba confirmed as the U.S. attorney for New Jersey.
As background, Habba was appointed to the position in an acting role in March, but needs to be confirmed, as a judge found that she currently “is not lawfully holding the office of United States Attorney” and has not been since July 1, when her acting appointment should have expired, though Trump has tried extending it.
Despite that pressing need and the good work she has done, she is being blocked by an informal Senate Judiciary Committee custom called the blue slip rule. Under it, home-state senators are required to return a blue slip of paper with their approval or disapproval of a judicial nominee for a federal position within their state. Sen. Cory Booker does not approve of Habba, and so Sens. Thom Tillis and Chuck Grassley aren’t pushing forward her nomination.
President Trump, furious over their intransigence and commitment to a custom only used against Republicans, hammered them on Truth Social and declared that they are letting the presidential prerogative fall victim to one woke senator despite Biden having not honored the rule.
Beginning his post, he noted that it is the executive branch that appoints US Attorneys like Habba, but the two RINOs are seemingly ceding that power to Booker, writing, “I have a Constitutional Right to appoint Judges and U.S. Attorneys, but that RIGHT has been completely taken away from me in States that have just one Democrat United States Senator.”
Continuing, he ripped into Sen. Grassley with a vengeance, arguing that Biden and his Democrats ignored the tradition, so Republicans should as well. He said, “This is because of an old and outdated ‘custom’ known as a BLUE SLIP, that Senator Chuck Grassley, of the Great State of Iowa, refuses to overturn, even though the Democrats, including Crooked Joe Biden (Twice!), have done so on numerous occasions.”
Building on that, the president insisted that RINOs like Grassley want to make it where, thanks to the Democrats and their blue slip, only Democrats can be appointed to key positions. He digitally thundered: “Therefore, the only candidates that I can get confirmed for these most important positions are, believe it or not, Democrats!”

Concluding, the president once again slammed Grassley and demanded that he let good conservative candidates through, snapping, “Chuck Grassley should allow strong Republican candidates to ascend to these very vital and powerful roles, and tell the Democrats, as they often tell us, to go to HELL!”
Speaking to Maria Bartiromo about the matter, Habba explained, “In the state of New Jersey in June alone, we arrested over 300 criminals, illegals, rapists. What is so bad about that work? The truth is, it has nothing to do with the work that we’re doing. It has nothing to do with the crime that we’re stopping. It has to do with trying to prevent President Trump from continuing his agenda, and it has to stop.”
Then, hammering the RINOs involved, she said, “So I would say to Senator Tillis and Senator Grassley, you are becoming part of the issue. You are becoming part of the antithesis of what we fought for four years, the same reason Tish James just got overturned in the appellate division, because it was a hoax, and it was misused and abusive power and we cannot allow and promote that kind of behavior. It is not just about me, it is about people across the country, US attorneys across the country that just want to do right by Americans that voted for President Trump.”
