According to his mother, Scarlett Wactor, “General Hospital” star Johnny Wactor was murdered in the downtown area of Los Angeles early in the morning on Saturday, May 25. Wactor was allegedly shot and killed after he stayed late at a bar at which he had been bartending and only left to return to his car at around 3:00 am.
It was then, as Wactor walked to his car alongside another coworker, that he was shot. According to his mother, the shooting came after he confronted a masked person who he initially thought had been trying to tow his car. After he confronted the individual, the masked murderer drew a gun and fired, striking him and killing him.
Speaking to Fox New Digital about the murder and what happened as her son walked to his car, Scarlett Wactor said, “They were walking to their car, and when they get there, Johnny’s car, which was parked in front of the co-worker’s, looked like it was jacked to one side, and from what I understand, he said, ‘Hey, man, you towing my car?’”
Continuing, she added, speaking about how the situation escalated and led to Mr. Wactor being shot and killed, “And the person looked up and had a mask, and so then I guess he knew they weren’t doing that, and so he stepped in front of the co-worker and then backed up and put his hands up or both, and the person shot him.”
She added that the tragedy seems like such an easily avoidable, chance encounter that wouldn’t have happened had her son and his coworker left the workplace just a few minutes earlier or later in the wee hours of the morning. She told Fox News Digital, “In my thought process … if he’d been two minutes earlier or two minutes later, he’d be alive.”
Further, she said that Wactor was beloved by many and that his murder will leave a large hole in the hearts of those who loved him, saying, “What I’d like for everybody to know is that they took a great human being. It is leaving a very large hole in me and his brother’s lives. We just buried my husband, their dad, four years ago. And he was very loved by his friends, his families. He lived life to the fullest, he chased his dreams, a very optimistic, positive person.”
She also emphasized how needless the whole thing was, as Mr. Wactor didn’t even try to stop the criminal from stealing the catalytic converter. She said, “And the crazy thing is, he wasn’t trying to stop them from taking it. They could have just left or taken it, he probably would have just given them the car. They were very much a coward[ly] person …”
Then, she called on the police to catch the murderer and deliver “justice for Johnny,” saying, “I hope they catch them, and I hope there’s justice for Johnny. That’s all I can hope and pray for. I will see him again. But down here on Earth, it’s going to be a very, very long road without him for me and his brothers.”
